Napoleonic Wargame Club (NWC)

I've got a guy who is having troubles getting his BGW UK version patch to load. He says it keeps saying invalid patch. He got the patch off of Rich's site. I had him try the US version too. He's re-installed as well. The patch won't even load.

Any thoughts?

What is the operating system, Vista or XP?

Did he place the patch into the game folder for BGW, before trying toload it?

Is he installing the 32 bit upgrade, later?

I've had some experience reloading several times as pc's died on me. Sometimes the patch won't load because it can't find a particular file. It will display an error message stating this. If this is the case, copy that file from the game disc into the main folder and the patch will install.

Of course, the patch is installed before the 32 bit update...

It's XP and he tried reloading. I will try touching base with him again soon.

If you places both the patch and the 32 bit upgrade IN THE MAIN BGW folder and runs each from that location, the patch and upgrade should work ok. If you have the UK version, use the UK version of the patch.

Steps:

Install game using TYPICAL option ONLY.

Run game and verify it works. Check the HELP/ABOUT on the menu to make sure the version is correct.

Install the TALONSOFT patch.

Run game and verify it works. Check the HELP/ABOUT on the menu to make sure the version is correct. Should be v1.14.

Install the 32 bit files. Remember this is a ZIP file, so make sure you UNZIP it into the MAIN game folder. Be sure to place the ZIP file into that main game folder.

Run game and verify it works. Check the HELP/ABOUT on the menu to make sure the version is correct. Should be v2.06.

If these steps are done in order, there should be no problems running the game.
