Gents,

I'm getting ready to fire up a Waterloo tourney over at GameSquad, so wanted to throw it out here as well in case any of you want to participate. You can register the games both here & there, and many players are members in both clubs.

The GS Nap section is here - http://www.gamesquad.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=204

If you wish to participate, send me an e-mail asap - Rich at hist-sdc.com

I did not find the rule of your tournament. What are the scenario : large or small ? (I suppose small), random or not ? ... etc

Please can you tell me (us) more about your tournament ?

The scenarios will be on the smaller size. The last battle will be a bit bigger. They will either be some of the hypothetical scenarios I shipped with Waterloo, or some custom ones I create. The initial one will be from the game though.

It will be 3 rounds of "mirrored" games. Games do not have to be played simultaneously either, as most of us don't need to add two new games to our plates.

I do random assignments in the first round, then for the last two rounds pairings are done by standings...so the top two players play each other and so on down the line.

The optional rules will be:

And finally, awards...there's points awarded to the winners and participants (at various levels), of course that only applies to the GS site. But also, every participant gets a chance at winning a free game from HPS.

If you have any further questions please direct them here:

So I don't hog up space on the NWC boards. [:D]

Good news indeed. But I have all the Napoleonic Hps games [:(]

I joke of course. How many time do we have to answer yes or no ?

The sooner the better...I'd like to get the pairings going by the weekend. Then I guess we have about a week's leeway to get other matches going. I prefer not to spread out the start times too much, then some teams get way behind the others.

Have 17 players as of tonight, and there's no limit to the number who can participate.

Oh, and the game doesn't have to be a Nap title, if you win it. [:D]

Rich is the optional rule 'line movement restriction' mandatory?
I did not know anyone used it - it makes you disordered if you move does it not?

I like this one Colin when I am playing the french [:D]

Rich, Don't worry, I will not win anything. I prefer to buy the Hps games now that I know the designers such as you and Bill. I think you merit to win some money for this work.

I use it in every game I play! [8D] Personally I find it to be pretty historical, as your troops aren't marching across a parade ground. I can poll the participants though and see if there's a general rejection of it. However, once settled, all games must use the same optional rules to level the playing field as much as possible. Here's the details on the rule from the user manual.

Optional Line Movement Restriction

This is an Optional Rule that causes infantry units that move in Line formation to have a chance of becoming Disordered. The base probability for this is determined by the Line Movement Disorder Parameter Data value for the nation of the unit moving. This probability is modified by the following:

· If the unit is Quality A, then 10% is subtracted from the probability.

· If the unit is Quality B, then 5% is subtracted from the probability.

· If the unit is Quality D, then 10% is added to the probability.

· If the unit is Quality E, then 20% is added to the probability.

· If the unit is Quality F, then 30% is added to the probability.

Actually I have never played a game without it yet. I believe those who don't use it may confuse it with the "Line Movement Restriction" rule from the BG games. There it meant automatic disordering when moving in line. Here it just means a chance to disorder, depending on terrain and unit quality. With good quality infantry, it's quite feasible to move in line in the open with this rule ON.

Thanks guys I was thinking it was like the BG rule I could play with it no problem based on your explanations. Rich not because of this rule but I have decided I can't commit my myself to a tourney at the moment though - thanks for organising though!
