May I remind the members to first, delete your temp files (.yyy and .xxx with the former being more important) as often as you can?

Also: when the turn doesnt open correctly, is at remote control, this usually means that your opponent had corrupt data go from the temp file to the .bte file.

For the .cpf files the .btc file is a temp file as well. I delete my .btc files as well.

Hi Bill,

Is there any point in time when when can NOT safely delete the temporary files?

Thanks very much.

No. The files may be deleted anytime after you end the game turn or before. They are locked while you are doing your turn and may not be deleted DURING play.

I create a file called Cleanup.bat inside my main game directory (C:\Games). Say yes when asked about renaming the file extension.

Once created right-click on it and choose edit. Put the following lines in it:

del /s *.yyy
del /s *.xxx

Close and save when prompted. Double-click to run...will go through all directories and clean out the temp files for you automatically.

If your pc is a bit slow and you only want for the batch file to search your HPS game folders, rather than all your games, or all your drive, then you could do something like this:

cd c:\games\HPS Simulations\
del /s *.yyy
del /s *.xxx

I have one like this that only searches my HPS games, and another which searches all my games, for the rare occasion when I play a Talonsoft games.

As long as you go for the default location Tony's batch file works best. Takes less time to scan the drive.

Gets right to the meat and POTATOES of the matter. [;)]

For those of you that like Boston Baked Beans - suggest you use something that cleans out your system on a regular basis! [:D][:D][:D]
