I know its a bit off topic but I want to try a new game from the HPS Squad battles or Panzer Campaign series. I have played the Early American/Civil War and Napoleonic games for a long time but have never played these modern wargames. Perhaps there are members in this club who have been playing the other games for a while and can make a recommendation.

Marco,

I recently joined the PCC and bought Smolensk '41, Market Garden '44 and Bulge '44, all from the Panzer Campaigns Series, and they are all very good games, offering different sorts of challenges. I don't know if they are everyone else's favourites but I like them. I haven't tried the Squad Battles games yet.

Heartily recommend either series. Squad Battles is faster and has fewer units to push around. I like it as I was a huge AH Squad Leader player back in the 70s and 80s.

Panzer Campaigns is a very good series with its sister series, Modern Campaigns also very good.

If you join the PCC you will have alot of opponents. And we can always play "fun" game too.

Nope, no demos from HPS, just like there isn't here.

That said, you'll likely find players for either game. I'm not in the PCC, but play the Panzer games from time to time through either the MBC or GameSquad, and always enjoy them.

All the Panzer Campaign Games or Modern Campaign games are great. I see the question about which one to try all the time and I always answer the same, look over the battles and pick out the one that interests you the most and start there. You won't be disappointed.

AI in Squad Battles is decent. The D-fire is always rough in the series anyway so I usually play as the Attacker to give the AI a chance.

In Panzer Battles it depends on the situation. Again, I prefer to attack against the AI. More of a challenge than the other way around.

I have bought the Panzer campaign game France 1940. Duchet has lowered its prices for the HPS games and I couldn't resist it [:p]

It is a good choice and the smaller scenarios will give you a good feel for the entire Panzer series.
