Which games do you own?

Any of the HPS series is always a good buy.

AGEOD is also a good game too if you like the operational level.

Bill is right on two counts:
(1) get another HPS game if you do not have them all!
(2) the AGEOD game is good but it does not have tactical battles nor a grand campaign (although the 1812 and Spain campaigns are long)

I was a playtester (they brought in some English speakers for the last round) on NiI. I really like it. It has many different campaign starting points and the tactical battles are fun. The tactical AI is not very good and no historical tactical battles are included. That said, the campaign AI is really good and, if you play no tactical battles, the AI is even better, especially as the Austrians.

The leadership, troop recruiting, replacement system and sieges are all well done. I like the engine and I like the game. Italy is a good scale for it, both in map size and troop numbers.

So it depends on what you want. Both are good games and I keep coming back to both.

Sadly, if you0are waiting (I am too) for Les Grognards to appear, you may need more than a new game or two to pass the time!

I ordered Napoleon in Italy and that should be here soon. AGEOD's Napoleon's Campaign is pretty fun. I enjoy it. The manual goes into good detail, but the action happens fast when a turn is ended and can surprise you a bit. But it is a well laid out strategic game that focuses on maneuver and overall operational strategy. It has some elements of economy and politics, but mainly centered around decisions you make that effect your forces. Supply is easier than they write up in the manuals and once you get a hang of it the better. It has short scenarios, medium and long ones. Weather also plays a huge impact on the game as does terrain and strategic towns & cities. Also naval elements are important in scenarios as well.

Crown of Glory mixes up the two a bit. It has a pretty detailed economic, political system and the battle system when not in PBEM is complex, but in PBEM is pretty simple. But strategy is important in this one as well as trade, building up your provinces, forming alliances and such. It is the ultimate on the grand strategic. The newer version looks even better than the older one, which is what I have now. I have ordered the newer one though.

All of them are eventually worth it. But I suggest buying from the link below:

The Naval Warfare Store is where I have bought all of my games for 3-4 years now. They ship internationally http://www.navalwarfare.info/files/webs ... einfo.html Also their games are always a minimum of $10 less than direct from the developer.

If you need some more insight feel free to ask and I will try to describe them better. Also try the demos too, that helps a lot.
