Napoleonic Wargame Club (NWC)

I was able to download the Demo and get it going on the first try, after doing the Tutorial, I had a go at leading the Grande Armee against General Mack.

I did get the hang of issuing orders pretty quickly, I did also manage on one occasion to zoom into a regiment of Grouchy's Curaisseurs just as they were charging into a hapless Prussian regiment, that was entertaining.

I have owned this type of game before, Waterloo;NLB, Divided Nation to name a couple and the problem is the engine is so difficult to debug, they often end up publishing a new game instead of fixing it. We are so lucky with the HPS and BG teams, providing updates and patches even years after a game is released.

I enjoyed the Demo, but I will wait and see before I plunk down any more dollars, besides my HPS Austerlitz just arrived in the mail and I am raring to go !

ONE GOOD POINT, that is mentioned on the HISTWAR forum: If the demo fails to load, keep trying several times to get the game going.

My demo failed 3 times to load, but the next time it fired right up and into the tutorials.

It was mentioned that maybe 10 times might be needed.

Demos are nice but if they are supposed to represent the real product to a community of gamers and take this long to load it probably will turn off some sales. I hope that JMM puts out a better demo for his product.

But I think that most people by now know that a Demo is just a pared down version of the real thing.

Sort of like Perris Island! [:p] Hup two, three, four, hup, two, three, four, get it right boot if it takes you 10 times! [:p]
