Ok - I am not huge on rank but it would kind of interesting to have a tournament where each bracket is played by different players. The first bracket would be Junior Ranks. The second round would be played by the mid grade ranks. Finally the upper ranks would finish the last round.
It would be based on teams. Each team would have a set of players from each of the ranks.
The team that won would get a medal to wear.
Teams that lose a round would go into a consolation bracket.
This would promote a club-team atmosphere and maybe help some of the new guys get to know the members that have been playing for some time.
I also would say that each game could be given advice by the members playing in the next bracket to help the new players along. Thus in round 1 the players that will play in rounds 2 and 3 would then be able to give some advice (not do the turn) to the younger member.
Then in the second round if that team won the member playing could take advice from the senior team member.
Anyway, the idea is to have teams and each member would only play ONE game. The winning teams advance, the losing teams drop down to a consolation bracket.
Consolation Bracket - if the team lost in the first round then the next member would play the first game of the consolation bracket. And if the second team member were to lose in the regular bracket then the third-senior most member would play in the consolation bracket.
If you need a diagram let me know. It would be based on 4, 8, or 16 teams.
