Question since most of these games are his major battles, why should the winning French victory be minor and major shouldn’t they all be major or he lost and went back to France as 1813 proved???

The level of victory achieved in game refers to the player, not the historical battle.

So you are saying that we play as gamers and not as History would see it! So is the bar to low for the French and to high for the Allies?

Actually you could argue that in the 1809 campaign the Battle of Wagram was a Minor Victory. Napoleon did not win a crushing victory there.

Because of the battle the Austrians and French worked out a ceasefire that took place during the Battle of Znaim. The French actually could have won a major victory at that battle but instead Napoleon preferred to negotiate an easier peace.

Its obvious due to results of the 1812-13 campaign that he should have given Hungary their independence and stripped Austria down to a status similar to Prussia. He was far too lenient with them.

Austria had been fighting against Napoleon longer than any of the land powers. They would become the deciding force in 1813 for victory for the Allies.

You can also argue that 1812 was not due to any one battle. It was due to the fact that he did not seek out winter quarters when he could.

Wars are not always won by battles. And Major or Minor victory level has nothing to do with the result of the campaign.

For instance: Napoleon abdicated in 1814 even though he had yet to lose a battle of major outcome. The Battle of Paris resulted in the generals handing him over - war weariness more or less being the reason.

Monsieur that was a great history lession but that was history and this is gaming. Monsieur SHore states that these are games base on fact and since no two gamers play the same then the outcome would not mirrow history. I would say an I know that it's my own five cents that the bar for the Allies is to high with out the same conditions layed out by you. I would say that a French player has every thing and more then L'Emperor had and the outcome should be major victory win and minor a truce. That my penny!

Why would you want to waste time on one of these games if the outcome was fixed?

Monsieur since no Allied officer think that the bar is not to high I will say it's level playing ground and there should be no complant by them. But playing the Allied forces in 1806 I find the French will run over them, if they go up aginst a excellent French player!
