I believe that when you surround a enemy say he has 1000 men and 500 are disordered then you put ten Cav fig in a hex and win the Melee then that 1000 men are gone because of ten Cav fig in a hex and a ZOC? Now thats gamy!

Did you fixed it was forbidden at the begining ? If it is not, you just have to accept your defeat and you will fixe an home rule for the next game.
In fact this is always the same problem : Some players want to play historically, some others look for new ways to win, using the defaults of the game. I must confess that I am more of the second school but I respect those who have a different point of view. I would just know when I begin what is exactly forbidden and authorized. Too many people stop the battle without any word and then cry if you decide that it's enough and then you claim for a major victory by opposite no answer. I had one allied player in this case for a great Waterloo scenario. Don't worry as I leave the club for a moment, I will not claim anything but I would appreciate that he contacted me to come to an agreement instead of just stopped without any word.

The solution : play only those who share the same way of playing.

I share the Colin's point of view and am not far of the Bill's one.

Sire I would never leave a game for that but consider it a learning experience and next time try to keep a solid line that small unites would not get in my rear to do that.

My point is that you should minimise the house rules really.
I will play moe4 stuff and that's the most I like. In 10 minute moves I and another couple of players have introduced a no artillery blitz rule removing the need for embeded melee as well.

If you play a minimum of house rules you can expect a minimum of arguments. If you opponent does something you don't expect learn from it and dont whine.

I have played many of the very good players in the club now and they have all taught me differing lessons. I enjoy that side of it. I believe some people use the terms gamey or unhistorical to cover their poor generalship.

Salute!

Bill a further comment. If you don't want routed unit or a pursuing cavalry unit to kill a general don't leave him on his own without an escort. I agree that is a little inappropriate but easily avoided.

And actually I don't know if it's unhistorical. A btn of say 500 guys running away come accross a single officer and say 2 aides. In their anger at being sabred they kill the officer. I can't really see why that's wrong. Easily avoided as well.

Monsieur in table top all unites running away most not run towards the enemy as this games does but away. The problem would be in the game not in the player since he following the game.

Monsieur well I’m glade it wasn’t 300 turns that we played or the whole points and a major victory would have went to my opponent. Some times its best to lose a little then a lot time and temper. Oh he did get a major victory out of it.

I have only one house rule: I win regardless of the results.

... and yes, if my opponent objects, I quit and submit a major victory. (Even if we haven't started.) [:o)]

Hey Bill that was fun! Glad I won. [:D]

Do you have the game number? (This is the only drawback to my system.) [:p]
