A French officer strides into the Tavern. He wears the beautiful and brightly coloured uniform of Napoleons famous guides the ‘Chasseurs a Cheval de la Veille garde’. His moustache is freshly waxed and his fine Parisian perfume give olfactory pleasure to all.

One of the Hanoverian officers comments ‘Well he looks like a right nancy but at least he smells better than those Prussians who always seem to have the aroma of a used sausage or even the English with their stale warm ale smell’.

The French officer seems somewhat happy at his fancy new uniform and parades to the bar like a model on a catwalk. Soon the others recognise General de Division Knox.

FML Gulyaev his greatest rival comments ‘look at that Peacock I shall do my best to skewer him again soon’
General Ludwig draws a funny scetch and shows it to the other officers at his table who laugh but then spills his drink on himself to the merriment of all.

General Knox throws his purse on the bar and turns to the sneering mob of allied officers.

‘Sir’s in celebration of assuming command of the Chasseur a Cheval de la Veille garde I buy everyone a round, even the English and the Prussians.

It is an honour to command the greatest light cavalry regiment in the history of warfare!

Vive l’France, Vive l'Empereur and Vive l’Guides

Thanks Colin - lemonade tastes great! Congrats on your appointment. Even if it is that phony Guard you belong to!

A young a tired Russian general sits in the far corner. His table is covered with papers of all kinds and floor around him is covered with broken feathers. Сallosity on his middle finger is just as informative as a couple of blots on his pants. A handsome saddled horse stands behind the window. Yet again charging in the fields was substituted with that endless paperwork.

When a claim about the best regiment of all times is made general purses lips and muttered "The Corse is so short of good regiments! He obliges his men doing such claims with histories like that..."

No one seems to pay attention to the phrase. Except the horse which gives his a glance of approval and understanding. But on a little thinking the general approaches the Guardsman. With a good eye he notices that although flamboyant the uniform is too thick for the summer and far too thin for the winter. Except the horse which gives his a glance of approval and understanding.

But on a little thinking the general approaches the Guardsman. With a good eye he notices that although flamboyant the uniform is too thick for the summer and far too thin for the winter. The marvelous scabbard is gilded. It would be heard a good mile away. The horse can also be seen through the door. A wonderful animal - beautiful, slender, with neat trimmed tail. Such a horse would be a fortune for cossack, could it survive in our climate. Not the dapple-grey beast that would eatwith equal voracity both oats and hat-worn roses. A beast that would **** everything that moves and all the other items would be set in motion with obvious consequences. Eh, well, the story of the Horse is just as interesting as the folclore that would originate while the servants would clean those nice smallish tassels on the new guardsman's boots. Servants? Wait a minute! What servants are possible under "Libertй, Йgalitй, etcetere"? At the thought of General Knox bound to clean those nasty tassels instead of actuall fighting generals face is covered with such a cheerful smile!

"Congratulations, Sir!" he sais "Sure you shall prove worthy of the new appointment".

"Helga! Champange here! A little bit here" General recalls of heaps of work to complete today. "And a huge bit there" Pointing to the horse and recalling that the Frenchman unvisely promised to pay for everything. The horse neighs impatiently.

"Pour le Nouveau Petit Enfant du Emperor!"

The scene is closed under the sounds of geranium being chewed for a snack...

{That perfume smells so very familiar, thinks the Hanoverian Major as he turns to see the French General d’Division Knox enter the tavern. Hmm, he seems to be sporting a new uniform, fancier even than his last garish attire. I would not have believed that to be possible. What is this, a promotion, and seemingly one that warrants his buying of the drinks today! Well, I have to admit, I am all for it, especially if he is buying.}

A red coated Hanoverian Major rises from his seat. “Here, here. I wholeheartedly agree with General Kosyanenko. Champagne all around, Helga! It would be most disrespectful to spare any expense in the celebration of General Knox’s fine promotion.” The Hanoverian Major approaches the bar where General d’Division Knox is standing. “You know good General”, says the Major as he admires the French General’s new uniform, “you really should abstain from any further raids on the Empress Josephene’s armoire. If Old Boney ever manages to apprehend one of your raids, there will surely be Hell to pay.”

The Hanoverian Major takes one of the champagne glasses that Helga has placed on the bar, raising the glass as he turns to face his fellow officers. “A toast to the great General d'Division Knox! Congratulations on your well deserved promotion to the command of the Chasseurs a Cheval de la Veille Garde.” The Major breaks into a broad grin. “Although he smells like a girl, he fights like an unbridled Hellion!”

And that is some impressive victory list too. Just noted your nice HQ link. I may have to put something like that together for my battles as an Allied member. Good work.

General, stay your purse, and please allow me the honor of buying you a round.

Welcome to la Vieile Garde, with all attendant privileges that entails of course, as well as the sacred duty to defend la patrie and l'Empereur.

Congratulations Colin! Huzzah!

Cheers!
