Why celebrate Ligny day? Because it is our last DEFEAT to the French tyrant! He who wins last wins best!

A tribute to our fallen comrades who sacrificed so that we could have another day to fight.

Abit taken back, Ensign Clawson looks at the two officers conversing at the bar and wonders why they are looking in his direction. As Helga strolls over to his table she has an apologetic look in her eyes. What is it Helga?, the Rat asks, "Well the man in the cute skirt over there said to put this on your tab!"

The other three Hanoverians seated at the table grin at the plight of their fellow officer. After all, the order was given by one of their exalted Field Marshalls for the benefit of an allied General. Who are they to question the orders of a senior officer?

"Cheer up, Ensign" says the Hanoverian Lt. Colonel. "Your purse will not be empty for long. It seems that two French units will be answering our Brigade Challenge instead of just the one. You will soon have ample opportunity to replenish your losses, if you do not mind paying for your drinks with French coin that is."

"Helga, if you happen to see your beautiful cousin tonight, please let her know that Ensign Clawson could use some cheering up. We all must ride to battle tomorrow. Tonight may be the last one he has left."

Ensign Clawson's frown deepens a bit, before brightening at the short term implications of the Colonel's comment.

"Here," continues the Lt. Colonel as he slides a mug of ale in front of his young ensign, "have a drink on me, seeing as you are all tapped out."

One of the King's Field Marshals walks across the Tavern and snatches the bottle of scotch off the Hanoverian officers' table. He grins, takes a large swallow, and flips a Spanish gold piece onto the table. "Fine scotch", he says, as he returns to his own table in the far corner of the Tavern.

Gneisenau is one of our very favorite Prussians!

Guess what? Today is The day! Goodbye little French Empire!!!

As the British Field Marshall returns to his table, the young Ensign Glazier turns to his Colonel and asks, "We are not really going to die tomorrow are we sir?"

"Not a chance, Ensign" replies the Lt. Colonel as he catches the Field Marshall's gaze. "After all, we are fighting the French tomorrow. We cannot get into too much trouble there. The only way we could get into trouble," he continues as he raises his glass to the English Guardsman, "is if we had to fight him." The Hanoverian Lt. Colonel downs the shot of Jagermeister in one practiced gulp. Setting his glass on the table, he turns to meet the gaze of the dashing young Ensign. "Fortunately for us, Sir Muddy is on our side."

Gneisenau is one of my favorites too. A no non sense, get down to business type guy. No prancy footing like the Austrians or French Marshals....

Sir Muddy shall led the most glorious of charges!
