Scott's used this for only one kind of victory in table top and that was the enemy left the battle field if the other side reach 30% in lost inf and cav added together for the side that had the numeral advantage. The side with less numbers if they lost 40% of their total number Cav and Inf they had to leave the battle field Major victory. If the attacking side didn't put 40% or 30% lost to the other side the side defending got a minor victory tell the next game because they still controlled the battle field this was a very rare condition because the French always showed up with the Larger Army till 1813. 1805 was a different matter the French had to put 30% lost to the allies who showed up with the larger Army. 1809 the French still had the larger Army 1806 same 1812 both had equal numbers so every turn the sides had to make a test to see which side hit 30%. Many times the lost was due to ME unites becoming shaken and routed when they left the battle field the numbers were considered lost. You know that Scott said that one fig =60 men. The French had 12 fig per batt the the Russians had 8fig per batt the Prussians 12 the Austrians 18fig Brit 12fig Pol 9 fig

Ok - yes, you could play with this. I still think that that is rather high and not really a goal to shoot for. Terrain objectives did matter.

For instance if a bridge would allow the retreat of an army such as at the Berezina then it would be key location.

But I see what you meant now.

One Advantage that the French had over the Prussians in 1806 and that was the Prussian were a Regimental army and moved and attack by the Regt not stacking muti-batt together. You will see that three batt of French not only had the advantage of numbers but had advantage of fire were as the Prussians had a three man (company) front the French had a twelve man company. The French Regt of 1806 was three batt Prussian Regt one Batt..
