Oh, good one Field Marchall Blackburn :D, and surprising from one who has to wear large shakos to keep the ladies from seeing their short comings.
Helga, more drink, It is time to sing!

My dear Ensign, first as you can plainly see a British Field Marshall wears a bicorne not a shako. Hmmmm, I shall have to speak to Colonel Jones about your pending assignment. The army still requires an officer in charge of stable cleaning and latrine digging. Let's see there is also an opening for Enemy Artillery Ranging Officer, we've lost the last dozen of those. They just don't seem to make it more than the first few minutes of a fight tsk, tsk...What do you think Colonel Jones?

Now this Chef de Battalion Reaves is destined for our beloved Emperor's imperial guard. That is obvious to all.

My dear Marechal Blackburn please go out of the tavern and move your horse. My black charger is getting tangled in his cart.

Most beloved Field Marshall Blackburn, stable cleaning and latrine digging are both honest tasks that certainly build a credible character. Why in the early days of my own career, I certainly spent more time peeling potatoes than I ever did engaging our enemies. Generaals Moss and Bilj were insistent that such useful duties would make me a better soldier. As a result, I am, by a rather wide margin, the most deadly combatant with a paring knife in the entire Anglo-Allied Army. The unfortunate downside of such a fine skill is that General Knox’s sword had a bit greater reach than my admittedly sharp, but woefully small blade. Fortunately we Jagers, particularly of the Hanoverian ilk, are rather prodigious marksmen when armed with our trusted rifles.

I respectfully request that Ensign Peccolo be spared the duty of Acting Enemy Artillery Ranging Officer as he has a quite measurable potential of becoming an intolerable irritant to our misguided foes. His only fault is that his youthful constitution has not yet developed a strong tolerance to the Jagermeister that I have plied him with this evening. After all, if he is to be assume the command of my old company, he must learn our ways and customs. Obviously, I am not one to break him in slowly. You must admit, he does have a most fine singing voice though. What if, in lieu of requiring him to stand in an open field until the enemy artillerists find the proper range, he agrees to deliver unto you the first sword he wrests from the grasp of an unwilling, French adversary? What say you, sir? Are you willing to grant a reprieve? :P :P :P

I, of course, could not agree more. I am proud of my fine, Hanoverian officers? :P :P :P

We will meet your brigade in Paris, General Peters, and be sure to save you a table with a view.

General Knox, were you told that poor, pitiful, creature you ride is a horse!! My dear fellow, a war horse is a proud and wonderful beast standing at least 15 hands high (shall I show you some sir?). Now then, that small creature you ride, with the large floppy ears and your feet can touch the ground when mounted upon its back, cannot be called a horse. Sir, I believe it is braying for you.

Oh very well Colonel Jones, if he fights that well I shall remand his fate to your care. I shall be expecting my sword however. I was once an impetuous youth myself. Why this brings back the time I was assigned to the embassy in Paris and was walking down the L'Avenue des Champs Elysées with a lovely French lass on each arm................. :D

You wit is most enjoyable but I am afraid you are mistaken the horse you describe is a Cossack horse and must belong to General Kosyanenko. My horse is that magnificient black one next to that Clydesdale, oh which is yours of course.

But don't worry I have unhooked the cart for you sir and fed him. It would seem the cart had several barrels of warm English ale in it which was a giveaway as to its owner  . But lets not put the cart before the horse sir, for he is a sturdy chap, that is for sure.

Also perhaps I could suggest one of my Parisian taylors to assist you with you rather dowdy attire.
I understand your Duke likes you well dressed.

Baahahaha...... :D :D :D You are all such good fun. It will be more the pity when you shall find if my brave Feld Jagers will water the meadows with the blood of my opponents.
A pity that the value of Hanovarian horse flesh is under appreciated, but, after Moscow I guess the French are happy to call any old nag a horse

Last call Gentlemen, last call, belly up and refill your glass. I must be off to the field of battle on the morrow. Oh my Helga, how firm a grip you must have to carry so many tankards! How about another song?

More drinks indeed!
What stimulating conversations and spirit of camaraderie. A welcome respite is spent here at the Rhine Tavern, from the crackling of musketry, roar of cannon, and the thunder of cavalry charging.
Cheers to one & all, until met on the field of battle.
