I am standing on the shores of the Taupo Caldera super volcano (in my best woody harrelson voice) and can report bubbling in the distance.

Oh no problem so far it's just French champagne - thanks Helga please bring out your best no need to keep it as the world is suppossed to end today.

But actually as General Knox 'the peacock' lives in 1809 I understand the real doomsday is scheduled for 18 June 1815. Not the far of 2012.

Further posts coming later as the volcano leaps into action

Greetings, officers.

It's 21:45, 20.12.2012. Chernobyl Nuclear Plant is still calm. We're keeping eye on it.

Keep us posted. I want to know the instant the world ends.

And what is this fictional date in 1815 you are referring to, Colin?

Jeff the fictional date in 1815 was discovered by one of our Savant's when in Egypt with the Tondu.

He found an ancient wall fresco in the Pyramid of Maya. The Fresco showed an aged man with a moustache and a crazy look on his face, he was exploding, well specifically he has elephants bursting out of his stomach. These elephants pour down the large wall art and seem to land on a an ancient timepiece that points to this date 6 years from now.

Beneath the time piece is a bundle of sausages and a strange looking fellow with a hooky nose. To the right is what looks like a flag of our empire. The savant's have intepreted this as a sign our empire will fall on this date.

Personally I can't see it given we have just defeated the Austrians at Wagram Tilsit has our Russian allies in their place and the English under Moore are struggling in Spain.

Also closer to home I expect you will wrap up the SON tournament next year

Now returning to 2012 there has been a 4.5 earthquake under lake Taupo (super caldera volcano)
Our leaders are too busy drinking to panic.

Well this did happen but after all its probably the 20th one this year. So nothing apocolyptic yet.

Colin, you wily devil! I have no idea how you managed to survive, but I cannot say that I am actually surprised that you did. You are certainly the clever one. :P :P :P

As I see the clock is now displaying 12:18 AM on December 21, 2012, it is with the greatest trepedation that I approach our inevitable doom. We are not out of the woods yet. As Alan Jackson might say, "It's December 21st somewhere!"

Colin,

Now I know you kiwis. All this apocalyptic talk is nothing compared with what happened at Twickenham a few weeks ago, eh Colin... Now I'm pretty sure that would have concerned you guys a lot more than all this end of the world nonsense. Please forgive my flippancy, I probably won't get another chance to play this particular card for another 10 years

Incidentally, my wife was born at Taupo. Fantastic place... :)

It's 11.18 on the 21st in Belgium at the moment I write this. I am in my bunker under the house with food stores for 20 years and my 13 children, all packed like rats in a cookies bun.

Looking outside the 10x10 cm special hard glass window all is calm. But I do not dare to go outside yet. If this is the last message you get from me you know what has happened.

It was good to know you my friends.

greeting,

Thank you, I hope I would keep posting on wargame boards tomorrow, and there would not be necessary to clean my keyboard off volcanic dust.
BTW, situation is worsening. I've been blocked at my workplace for about 4 hours... Nothing special, they just were shoveling out the roof, covered with hardened snow. All doors were closed for this reason.
The servers are still working, however, so I can send this message to you, gentlemen. Not the last one, I hope.

Arrrggghhhh agony , pain , tears. Oh no oh no it can't be. OH OK well done England. sniff sniff
A nice xmas present for you Antony  . Yes got to admit it bothers us more than any world ending scenario. :| :|   :D

There is but one silver lining that we have not been able to call on since 1990. A card played against our team over and over for the last 20 years.

Here it is:

'We may have lost but we are still the world champions'
