Gentlemen,
I'd like you for help, we have with Allied officer a campaign game. After we started we changed .cpf file to .bte. The first battle is about to finish but after changing .bte back to .cpf an error has appeared if we try to open it in Campaign Menu. Does anyone knows how to do it if it's possible?
Thanks

I don't think it's possible to change back

Thank you Ernie, I'll try to ask him how to do it.

Salute!

My guess would be the file was changed from cpf to bte in order to enable the use of PBEM encryption.

That tool only works in the bte file.
I've always wondered why it wasn't made to work in the cpf file as well?

Regards,

Precisely for this purpose. I admit that I am not a programmer, but it could be very good if encryption for campaign will be added. If possible,of course.
Nice to post with you Todd, despite your "a bit snowy" weather :)

Hi Adam,

Yes, 22 inches of snow in my yard.

Amazingly we have not lost power in my backwoods hamlet, where usually a squirrel simply staring at the electric lines causes the power to go out.

Of course the day is not done, but so far so good. :)

Regards,

Hey Todd,

That is a lot of snow, so far this year we had one big snow fall but only 12"!!! If you have to go out, be careful and stay safe...

Hi,
I think it could be a very good training for battle during winter. :D

IIRC, the encryption of the campaign caused problems to carry on to the next scenario all of the losses, positions, etc from the current scenario. IOW, encryption defeated the whole purpose of a campaign system; it would be like there was NO interlinked scenarios.

Somehow, the method touted by Bill was to start the game as a campaign, change to a BTE file, with encryption and then (I think, anyway) change back to allow the campaign tree to function. I DO NOT remember the mechanics of the file changes.

I guess if someone did not want to write to Bill, then an email to HPS support (Rich H.) would be in order.
