I have been trounced by some of the best ;-( but I have won at Blitz with Shevadino Redoubt and am in danger of winning here with Ligny & Quatre Bra.

The reason for my success - simple - They ran out of cannon balls whilst firing at long range.

Okay most of you know this already I suppose, but perhaps you don't think to mention it when you are teaching new recruits because it seems so basic.

This is not a reflection on my tutor - one day I hope to be good enough to hold him to a draw

Usually we just let them play with jacks and the small rubber ball!

This issue was generally more a problem in the BG series. Not really in HPS/TS.
I recall in twin battles and waterloo in BG you need to be quite judicious with your artillery ammo.

In some of Muddy's MOE4 tournament scenarios he brought back this issue as well.

In the ACW games, there is an option to limit artillery and infantry opportunity fire to short, medium and long range. It is NOT in the Nappy games and it would be a HUGE benefit.

The only way to limit long range, with small chance of damage, firing is to LIMBER cannon not needed.

Guess the problem is more about the French gunners getting nervous, firing at all costs as long as possible and then run.

Would never happen within the well trained and disciplined units of the British army and its allies.

I totally agree, once their perfume wears off they lose all sense of bravery and run to the rear to re-freshen themselves!
