Fellow Members of the NWC

It is a honor to be nominated and be running for President of the NWC. I have been a member of the NWC since its first day in 1998. A Co-founder and worked through its initial growing period. I look forward to helping the NWC over the next year.

Since the beginning of the NWC I have maintained the main club webpage as well as the Join forms and their distribution to the appropriate people. As well I have been an administrator for the Club Forums. I have been active in the club, although mostly in the background, and no stranger to how the club works. 16 Years of dedication to the NWC.

I am the Founder of the ACWGC. I was President of the ACWGC for several years. I came up with the concept for a more social club rather than just a ladder. My basic concept was to allow for points for winning and losing, as well as the formation of Armies for members to participate in. The NWC is based on that concept. It has been a success for 16 years and counting.

There have been a lot of changes recently and my goal as President will be to review the progress so far and to listen to the membership as to what they like and what they do not. Put forward ideas and concepts from the membership for possible integration into the club. I will work diligently with the other members of the elected Cabinet to make this a better club then it already is.

I strongly believe that a Club like ours needs to adapt to technical/Internet changes and in membership wants and needs. The new younger members are different from us old Gronards. They do not have the same wargaming background and are more into new technologies. It is important to adapt if the club is to survive. Are there wargames out there that can be integrated into our club to expand its membership? This can only help getting our club name out there. I am sure there are a lot of people who would be valued members but have no idea we exist. One of the main issues with a club, for survivability, is the need for new members. Can we do a better job at putting the word out for our club. I think we can and we must. One of my goals will be to get feedback about promoting our club. Review the sites and tools that can help.

I have been gaming with and against Todd since he joined the club. He is a good fellow and I consider him a friend.

I look forward to any question you may have about my participation or experience in the Club.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

I am glad to see you step up, Pierre. Your long history with the club, as a founder, club cabinet member and player will serve you well as the next President of the NWC.

It is good to see a member of the La Grande Armee step up.

I am sure you will garner the support of the entire club in your efforts.

I'd like to hear more specifics from the candidates on what they would do to move the club forward and hopefully spur some discussion as it has been too quiet.

What is your vision for the future of the club?

What do you see as the most pressing issue facing the club, and how would you approach it?

What would be the first action you would take if elected and why?

To answer your questions.

1- My vision for the club is to keep doing what we are doing right. I understand there needs to be updates and changes to keep current. New games can change the way we do things however my original vision for these clubs, from 1997, still stands. A club were like minded people can get together and enjoy the games we all love. That includes everyone regardless whether they play the games straight or use any other house rules. This club should be inclusive not exclusive. All types of players should be welcomed.

2 - I think the most pressing issue in the need to improve on recruitment. I think there is improvement to be done. Getting the word out about our great club and improve retention. Are we doing anything wrong in regards to initial contact and training?

3 - My first action would be to ask the Cabinet where we stand with all the changes and processes that are ongoing. Review them and see get feedback as to how we should move forward. Feedback from the Cabinet, Commanders and general membership. I would need to know were we are before knowing were to go.

Recently I offered a free JTS game to the Cabinet for a contest etc. I suggested some kind of contest to bring in more members. I would pursue that.

Thanks you Jeff for the questions.

General Sir, Pierre
You will have my vote ,I consider Todd to be a good choice for a president of the club but there is no one I consider more fit for it than Pierre D.
So Pierre D will have my support.
I remember when I started here in I think 1998 after already joining the ACW game club and I started asking about the structure of the club and
who owned it and how it was run that all things where run by and through Pierre D and he was asking for a commander for the Allied side and
Stevie Peluso running the France army and the great atmosphere and strange to me how easily all voices from the club where heard and it was
easy to have things changed if majority of the ordinary members did see so fit ,I joined on the side of France and had the time of my life there.
I did find both of those clubs to be at that time different from all other clubs because of the style they where run.
I have only managed to stay few years and then drop out and after some time I have again joined time after time.
Those 16 years I have played over 10 years and always when I got back Pierre D was there helping members at the best of his ability ,and now for 16 years.
For me that is something special and I'm sure lot of members here appreciate that ,at least for me without Pierre D for those 16 years there would be no club today.
We soon started from the start to have independent web pages for the different Corps and then for the independent army's but we could always rely on assist
from Pierre with them.
There where no things to small ,or to stupid ,or to annoying for him not to take into consideration ,and if the members agreed on a change he did so with ease.
For me he is the club and the club is he ,he has "served" the club member the last 16 years and assisted in any way possible and he is a man of great honour.
Sir ,Pierre D ,you have my vote

I have gotten to know both candidates over the years and have considered each of their responses. Pierre, I think you are absolutely correct in identifying opportunities to improve retention of current officers, and soliciting feedback to get a feel for where we are, and what needs to change.

Pierre, I trust in your record and your character. I respect the manner in which you conduct yourself. I agree with your approach and your assessment as to the areas that need focus. You have my vote.

Bon jur Monsieur, on behalf of the Emperor of Haiti, I wish to convey his well wishes. I think that the new games that came out are find but they do not encourage many to join. I know that you have not been only a great warrior but you handled the Newsletter for a time. I see that with a fresh game like Spain that would gather more interests then 14 or 13. I understand that you do not make the games or sell them but you have the power to convey to HPS and Tiller the wishes of this mighty gathering of Eagles. I have notice a great change in the club since 2010 till now which puzzles me. We no longer have the swagger to open the door to the Rhine Tavern and listen to battle and romance stores the wit of those who left us. Time moves on but everything stays the same there is nothing new under the sun just new voices who choice not to say anything? We should be all for one and one for all a du Mon ami

I am honored to support General Desruisseaux for the position of the president of the NWC. I have joined the club 15 years ago and I know all the effort Pierre put into raising the club and I believe he has the experience and resolve to lead this club to a bright future.

The campaign period is now closed, and this thread has been locked. I will be emailing Voting Instructions to all officers. The instructions will be immediately followed by a Voting Form which you will need to submit in order to have your votes counted.

Thanks to all of the candidates for the cleanest campaign period that we have enjoyed here to date. Best of luck, gentlemen.
