Morning Monsieur, their club is small and if they return here there no use going there . It was not by any invite I was fishing around and the ladder blitz club seem like a place where they play WWI, and got a game and Chris told me about a face book page.

I am a member of the Blitz black powder ladder if that is the club you mean. The NWC exiles page in facebook isn't much. I don't think I will bother applying at the splinter group's club.

Rich Hamilton has sent me a request to re-join the forum. I can't see any reason why he should not.

Great to see the old Marchal return to the ranks

I have heard our troops will be moving to assist Spain against those British and Portuguese troops landed there.
Every man is needed specially the ones hardly able to rise from the chair do to heavy lifting of medals and decorations ;o)
Helga please assist the Marchal to the next beer ,this round is on me :o)

Glad to see you back Rich

Talk to them at NWC exiles Facebook or their club

I obviously didn't mean the ones who left for the new club. I was thinking of Scott Ludwig, David Guegan, Rich Hamilton and some of the others who left under the cloud.

Thanks, I'm in the process of returning. FWIW I never formed any other club nor advocated any such thing - the Blitz is there, so I directed others there if they wanted formal structure for playing games.

Personally I would like to see the NWC refocus on playing games and discussing history and let politics take a back seat...might require trimming rules down, lessening admin loads, trimming chains of command, etc. if desired - but make it so everyone, from the top down, can have FUN with their hobby. There's always going to be differing opinions, but it should be possible for those to exist within a club this size without it blowing up. This happened for at least a decade, so we *should* be able to get back to that. The CCC has been able to maintain that environment since its inception...just sayin.

Happy you opted to return - and you are correct but it seems unfortunately some here seem to have chosen "politics" as the reason they decided to join as opposed to the "playing games and discussing history" Very good clue as to why once one assumes a leadership position in this club that so many have opted to leave

Welcome back Rich. I hope with the new game out that you have more time for games. but actually, I have two things to raise with you (1) please spend all your time on the next Peninsula games, I am sure you will have time to actually play the games if you ever get to retire, and (2) The Grand Army, really? The Prussians are looking for a few good men!

Rich great to hear your coming back.

Let's get back playing the games and let those who want to play politics go somewhere where politics is the game, but not at this club.

Salute!

Playing games, discussing history are both things that have been the cornerstones of my two election campaigns.

Might require trimming rules down.

Now that is interesting.
A rule system that was passed by an average margin of 90 Yes 10 No per section, as can be found in the thread on it in the Reading Room, finds itself again a target.

There's always going to be differing opinions, but it should be possible for those to exist within a club this size without it blowing up

That has always been my stated desire.
However, for a very small but determined bloc of individuals, they cannot but help themselves to choose the 'blowing it up' option by their repeated attempts to overthrow, destabilize, and threaten the membership and the elected leadership.

In this past week I have seen an effort by and large by many people to try and come to work together to keep our club going in the wake of Al Kling's and Mark Jones' departure.

For the reasons why they chose to depart, I can hazard a good guess it has to do with the relentless efforts conducted by some to 'blow it up'.

While I was given some hope at the sudden willingness by so many to exert themselves and focus on playing games and discussing history, why then did I receive a very clear and direct warning: quote:

"A wishy washy President will not do at this time. If you continue on this path I can’t see you lasting more than a month based on the pressure you will be under. You have seen the mild pressure so far."

With the overwhelming number of club members posting and working together in a positive manner, one must certainly wonder what kind of pressure could possibly be looming in the future...

Ask yourselves, what pressure could this possibly be in a gaming club, where the expressed desire of so many is to play games, and leave the politics behind?

This is the pressure that has been building without letup since the passage of the Revised Club Rules.

You may choose to ignore this fact if you wish, I have had the great misfortune of living it for the past year.

I have had my inbox filled with hate mail.

Example from this morning:

Ta ta asshole
From Paul Johnson

In a gaming club no less.
Really?

My efforts this week have been dedicated to bringing members and leaders together, and that is derided as wishy washy.
Really?

I know that many people would rather not hear about the troubles, I know that many people would rather pretend it does not happen.

I know some few would prefer that the many would not look back to see what has transpired.

I do not believe in ignoring the past.
And it is impossible for me to ignore the present when it is filling my inbox with the promised threat of more.

Regards,

I am willing to move forward and not dwell on the past. However it will require a democratic process where more than 1 or 2 decide how things will be. We need elections to bring the Cabinet to full strength.

We got off on the wrong foot. I apologize to the membership for my posts or emails that were a little antagonizing or a lot depending on your position.

If one member of the club has a gripe then he should be listened to and try to work something out.

I had a gripe and felt it was not listened to and just brushed off. If this can be avoided, and I make those mistakes as well, we can try to work things out. Compromise and negotiations are important. Sometimes it is not possible. Other times it is.

Let's move forward and continue to make this the best club ever. Looking forward to the 20th anniversary of the NWC.

Gents,
the rules are 24 pages long. It should not be surprising that once they are implemented that we find things that need changes..
