and then quit. Do you write rules and put them in place? Do you hold elections and then win every one of them? Do you pare down the membership roles through ironclad musters? While you are doing all of this are you setting up another club that you totally control with no democratic mechanism (and spiffy graphics)? And then storm off in a huff?

Fine, set up your own club but don't fight to the death on every little thing here why you are doing it.

I was annoyed when Mark and Al quit on the same day, and rolled out a new club (with Roy listed as a founding member too) but at least their resignations were classy . Now I am laughing because (a) this is too weird and (b) I really hope someone still has the keys to this place!

Well, back to real life for me, I can help find the keys on Monday.

For a young family man who only wanted to play game Jim it was a process of hidden motives. The whole time we been here this has been a wake up call, men coming here with desires to ruin a fun club is beyond me with reserved spots waiting for the right time to move out making this the twin to the US government .

Gentlemen

How many times have I seen the words "future" and "not dwelling in the past" recently :?:

Somebody got "annoyed", well that is a surprise
Long live enlightened despotism, it really works better than democracy or is it all a web (page) of deceit. :frenchlol:

Jim,
I guess this was a cheap shot, because the Muster Police all quit at basically the same time and are not here to defend themselves. But the process---nit-pick every rule here, kick people out, set up a tournament and ask people to participate, run and win elections, and the whole time knowing you were gone (3 of the four cabinet members were part of the initial roster of the new club), that is weird and disrespectful, regardless of how anyone else treated them (the only person I had conflict with was Mark, I got along with the rest, AFAIK). I do not care about dual club memberships, etc, I just think the whole process was weird.

Hi Jim

Not only was it a "cheap shot" but subjective and disingenuous. No point in just paying lip service to the "its all in the past Brigade" then attacking ex-members otherwise we may as well start having a shot at the resigners and debarred members who have resurfaced.
Risking being call "smug", which is the worst that has been thrown at me to date; I would recommend "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone".
I am a member of The Blitz and The Wargaming Society having joined both when I discovered them, no conspiracy there. Being a member of the NWC at present is no accolade but during 12 year I have seen ups and downs, comings and goings and "the gods willing" I will witness them all again, at least once

Guys,

Let's leave this be. We can all say a lot about everything. The important part is we learn from our mistakes, my own included and we move on.

Jim H,
I guess my thought was this--elected people keep quitting, with some firing off "subjective" broadsides. They said their piece and mine is simple---I just don't get it. I really don't. Mark gave me the reasons for taking such a hard line on people who were disagreeing with him (back in the Spring), and while I disagreed with him on that, he did take the time to explain his position to me.

But I still do not get why the leadership of the club took such hard lines while at least 2 for certain, maybe 3 of the 4, were planning their own exit. That is the part that sticks with me and, to me transcends everything else. It seems to me they could have just left. It is not like they would have stopped playing the games! So I was a little snarky, yes, but up until they quit I was getting scolded in public (see Mark's post where he says I helped caused Scott Clawson to quit). That annoyed me because this is a club where we adults play with toy soldiers.

But you are correct, I should have just let them say their piece and go their own way. So I apologize for perpetuating the crankiness.

Hi Jim

Most of us get "crankier" as we get older :frenchwink1:
I like to get the last word, but not sign off with something that may be construed as more of the same :frenchlol:

I turn 40 in February, will you cut me a little extra slack then?

I think we can all agree to let the past behind us, but at the same time I'm sure we can also agree that we have to learn something out of the past or else this may repeat again someday.
I at least got a bunch of suggestion that will hopefully stop certain things from happening again, and I'll put them on the table as soon as everything has settled in.
