I can start to work on PDT files as soon as we agree on what to do.

Check this web page, you can find usefull info about pdt file and how it works.

http://www.cobexlaw.com/campaign/eckmuhl.htm

We should start with a team to work on this project; with enough time we can do a good work .

Good Midsummer day to all

I had not played the game for awhile and was expecting 10 etc movement rate. I realize now that there was an update to the movement system. I actually recommended the game to Antonio not realizing the movement rates had changed. I knew he wanted the same as Waterloo.

I am annoyed at the changes between the series. Which include movement and fire tables. Leipzig artillery is devastating and you have the opposite at Waterloo. I understand as time passes and more knowledge is gained the designer tries to tweak the game. Still annoying when you have to learn new movement rates and time scale. Not everyone has the same opinion and I understand.

I would be willing to work on the project with others.

If the difference to the 10 minute titles is so drastic it may be a good investment by HPS/JTS to attempt to update all games to 10 minutes.
Of course the designer is a must have even if he would only act as advisor.
I remember the McNamara database for the Panzer Campaign series that standardized all the PDTs.

Surely it doesn't have to be a project this large but at least the attempt to edit the PDTs of a single 15 minute game so that it is "converted" to a 10 minute game would be big step but also thought job.

The thing is that some of us still like the 15 mn turns.

Especially with big scenarios I don't see myself playing a big campaign of Waterloo at a snail pace.

Another thing I wonder about is the "locking" of certain files, not sure but aren't there restriction what can and can not be modified regarding map, scenario, pdt etc.?

as long as you give a new name for a scenario, oob and pdt file there is no restriction.

Maps are restricted (At least the master maps) you can always create submaps from the master one.

Gents,
I was in communication with Bill Peters about this a few weeks ago and he gave me some hints on transferring the pdt's to the 10 minute format. I am hoping this is something I could help with in a month or two.

There isn't a standardization because Bill went one way on his own, while the company stayed with the original design. I made an effort to standardize all the titles with him and we couldn't come to agreement on a few things, so the effort stalled.

Personally I would like to see both a 15 minute turn and 10 minute turn package for each game, so people can choose what they wish. I'm firmly in the 15 minute turn camp, as are about half the PBEM community based on the last poll...the other half want 10 minute - so good to have both. It will be a pretty big undertaking to do it right...but at this stage of the series I don't see many scenarios being changed in updates for older games, so not a lot of maintenance to the package once completed.

I'll be happy to advise on this as needed, but can't play a lead roll...you can always reach me at Support@johntillersoftware.com

I prefer the 10 minute ones myself, although I agree that the artillery is a little too strong in Leipzig. the 15 minute turns creates geometry that is too big for my brain, I think.
