Napoleonic Wargame Club (NWC)

The Major climbs the stairs of the Inn to his room and opens the door, and there laid out as he had left it only an hour before was his uniform. The uniform that had seen him through many battles on the fields of Russia and Belgium, and had been carefully put away ready for the time that he could again wear it and fight again for his beloved emperor and III Corps. He starts to swap his clothes feeling the familiar feel of his old uniform, pride rushing through him and when finally he finishes he moves to the mirror and admires the uniform he so loves, that of a French Major and Aide. He picks up his old sword and slides it into its scabbard and heads for the door, to make his way to the stable where his trusty mount is being held by the stable boy, ready for there short journey together.

He mounts his horse and they set off through familiar countryside. He rides for what seems an eternity but when he looks at his pocket watch he realises it has only been a couple of hours and he must be nearing his destination very soon and there in the low light of dusk he can see camp fires. Hoping he has found the encampment of III Corps he heads in their direction.

As he nears he is pleased that there before him is the flag of III Corps. He rides past the sentry who salute him and he nods in their direction. Eyes are on him as he makes his way to commandants tent to meet Général de Division David Guégan. He stops just before the tent and dismounts, soldiers and officers come to watch and hearing the commotion outside General Guégan steps out of his tent followed by his Divisional Commanders, Général de Brigade Einar Jon Másson and Général de Division Ramon Cipressi. The Major walks over to the General and draws his sword and offers it to the General and then says;

"Major Mark Hornsby once of the 111ème Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne and Chef d'Etat-Major of III Corps and formerly of the 60th Royal American Rifles in his most Britannic Majesty's service offers his sword and his services once again to III Corps and its Commandant, to serve as he once served and to take up his old post as Chef d'Etat-Major if the General still wishes him to."
