Would anyone be interested in a game on the Medieval Wars?

Just curious. This is not a game series that I am working on nor would I propose to John Tiller but just curious as to how many folks like the period and would be interested in a computer game on the subject.

I would love a medieval game, if done well. It is one of my favourite periods in history. But it's a long time period with many wars and themes, much technological and tactical evolution, much variety, so it would have to be focused.

I'd love to see a Medieval series. The best time period to me, would be starting around October 1066 and running through the end of the Hundred Years War (1453).

A whole series of titles could certainly be created for this lengthy period - perhaps Paul's engine would be more suitable for the pre-gunpowder era for a number of reasons.

The Crusades would probably be an excellent choice, ideally covered in multiple titles.

I am not too excited with Paul's engine. One thing that bothers me is the way that facing is done. When the units move you have little control over which hexside they will face.

I would love to see this be done. I think it would be good in any of Johns or Pauls Engines.

Bill With pauls engine once you move you can in the same go turn to face what ever way you want..

The medieval periode contains a lot of sieges and not too many pitched battles. It will be hard to find an engine which handles the siege type of warfare very well. Sometimes the walls of strongholds were destroyed or the garrison was starved into surender, it will be hard to wargame something like that. For example I don't find the HPS engine very strong in the French and Indian war in regards to attacking forts.

Personally Bill I would prefer you focus your extraordinary abilities on more Napoleonic games. When you are finsihed there perhaps you simply need to take the current engine and back up a century. Lot's of good stuff circa 1700 - 1800.[;)]

I said before ... will say it again. Not going to approach John on this. Not even distinctly interested in putting such a game together.

Just wondering how many folks like me would like to play such a period on the computer.

Frankly the graphics themselves would run a fortune to do right....

I am doing 2 projects at present and after I am done I am finished with the Napoleonic series. We have one other project I might help out with but I will either be done or working on something totally different with John.

Monsieur, it’s hard enough to dislodge the enemy from a well fortified position in these Nap games. If any thing I would love to see a War in Spain 1808-1814. And if we want to be exotic why not the isles 1786-1804 that cost France 30,000 men don’t believe the lies that most of this was do to yellow fever for no one would be alive here in the Gulf! Just my tack !

It is my dream as well. The English Civil War is also an area where we could do with a title.

For me it would have to use a solid turn based engine.

I have Gustav Adolf and also This Accursed Civil War and they are superb simulations of that era. They are good for solitaire play too.

I have the entire series Tony. I am hoping that they do another ECW game. There are still some 18 battles left to simulate! (or thereabouts).

The wars of the 16th century would be good too. The early era of firepower.
