close, the landing was in lewiston ny, very scenic. as you know being on the niagara river in a small boat can be very sporty at times. we only went on the canadian side of the river to relive ourselves.

Not a bad looking catch. Last Salmon I caught was a 12 incher,of course up here we don't measure them the same as you folks. In the great Northwest we measure between the eyes. :D

walt,
thanks, that pic was taken on the second day. i didn't catch anything on day one so the guides put me in the "boat of shame" with another guy who didn't catch anything on day one. it's harder than it looks to drag your bait on the bottom just right. the ones we were catching were about 25lbs average, i know that wouldn't be a keeper out west.
i'm hoping to get out in the gulf on my next louisiana trip.

yes, lewiston is very nice, the forts were just up the road. i'm assuming the devils hole and the whirlpool are where the two hydroelectric dams face each other across the river. our guides told us if we fell in we were dead because the current is so fast they won't be able to catch up to you. then when you get to the dams you just get pushed under and pop up about 2 weeks later. apprently people get killed there every year, the big danger is the big jet boats taking tourists up to the falls. they fly up the river with no regards to their wake and they flip over the fishing boats. that whole gorge there is beautiful, i will give it that.
