Ha ha ha.... yeah ask my wife, she will tell you how stubborn and patient I am. Actually, I used to participate in the club quite a bit in the 'early years' when Battleground games were all the rage. When HPS and Tiller games started coming out, I found it hard to transition to the new engine, and seemed to have disappeared into the mountains to 'find myself'. I must have missed a muster or two, and got written off for dead.

I finally realized how much better the HPS/Tiller games were, and the sheer diversity of these offerings... and then 1813 games came out!... and then I got hooked again a couple years ago.

I played a few (unrecorded) games against quality players, got my ass handed to me big time, but found that that was really the only way to get better.

Having as much fun with these as a busy schedule allows, and have made some good friends over the past year or so. I really really appreciate the training, advice and learnings that others have given to me since then. I have 4 games on the go right now, all against great players... it is interesting to me how each opponent has such a different bag of tricks that they can use effectively... so you can see how over time these 4 games will provide ME with 4 new bags of tricks that I did not have before starting these matches. The matches are also long enough that one can adjust tactics and apply new learnings on the fly. Its all good!

And as Al would say...

"Battle On!"

Couldn't help but notice that ever since that upstart French Lt commented on how French promotions were being delivered via a very old burro led by a blind Monk, that there has been a slew of movement up the French ladder. The payroll clerks must be working over time and the geese are feeling vulnerable for fear of losing so many feathers to become quills.

Long live the King (of France)!
