The sales price is the normal HPS price, for all titles except Defending the Reich, so not sure what the gripe is over cost...

And depending on your browser and screen resolution sometimes IE will open an image and then resize it so it fits on your screen, which decreases the quality of the image greatly. If you rest your mouse over the image a little icon will appear in the lower right-hand corner and you can click on it to display the image at full size. The images posted on the HPS site do this to me, so maybe you are seeing the same thing...

Tom - we have to balance the expense on a game all round. Thus the historical accuracy and programming (read: doesnt crash) is top priority in our games.

Graphics in our games is not up to the quality of Rome:Total War and that is what irks folks. On the other hand we dont have their budget either.

Alot of us painted miniatures for the hobby. We are prone to be critical of a game look. Others come from a pure computer game experience. They remember the early SSI graphics.

Yes, I would like to see our graphics improve. I think that John should be out looking for better artists if it means a better product at the same cost. But good luck. He wont find Don T. the ACW artist at Mark Adams or Joe Amoral's price. And in the end YOU will pay more for the game.

We believe our product is worth every penny you pay for it. I spent years working on the games I did. I believe that when you buy a game I worked on you get your money's worth and the same goes for ALL of our games.

Sure, I would have liked the Naval series to have a nicer look for the ships but in the end I had a game that didnt crash and was historically accurate for a game simulation. To me that is the MOST important thing in a game.

I hope you change your mind on the Punic Wars game. The We-Plot/We-Go system is a really great way to play. I am playing the Salvo! game and it uses the same type of play as does Combat Mission.

Dont sell it short just because its not Punic Wars: Total War. From what I am reading its a really good simulation.

Ok guys, you convinced me. If Dean tested the game and said that graphics are as good than the Napleonic title, I trust him. More as Rich pointed out the price is the same than the other titles of HPS.
So I shall try it.
And to try to convince Tom, it seems there is an option : "paint your own army", so you will be able to improve graphics of the units. I know that by an email from Duchet.

Please, tell me if a new club is created for the title.

By the way, Dean, please, will you teach the basic of this new game ?

Regards

General Lamezec

There will be another club, we're waiting a bit to allow interest to grow. Dean Beacham has come up with some great ideas for it.

Wow guys, this is really nice for the small company you are. [:D] The units remind me of the original Cossacks, very sharp. I think it will be a good seller, keep the artists!! [8D][:D] This is a huge step for the company and one that can improve your current genres over time.

I think for the Napoleonic Series you guys have a great engine now! Maybe you can take some money and work with the artists and improve one thing that I think is a huge drawback for folks. The buildings. If you guys do a great job on that I think it will be 100%. 90% right now, so take it one step up. I have found building mods and popped them into the game and it does wonders. [:)]

You got an edge, now build on it, people are talking about it on other forums and places I visit and I don't mean other Clubs. [:D]

Hats off though on the new game, looks great!! [:)]

I also think that the graphics have much improved lately, overall. I found the unit box icons for Eckmuhl and Wagram almost naive painting and always use Volcano Man's mods there, but Waterloo and Jena have really much improved the overall look and I use the stock graphics there. The 3D graphics for the units were always OK for me, but are really good in the last two games. I find the ground files a bit sterile and use improved ones courtesy of Antony Barlow. Anyway the graphics are OK overall and my only wish would be for the 3D graphics to represent a lot more MEN per unit--4 men in a battalion and 2 in a squadron doesn't quite capture me the way a hex full of men does. Afterall this isn't table-top gaming. But I disgress ... gorgeous graphics would never be the reason why I buy a game, but HPS has really much improved their graphics lately. [:)]

Is this a club or a HPS-sales-dependance?
If you an english or american... no diffrence!
Should I write you some words about free meanings as a german?
Lock it! And you drop a possible mask! Would be interesting to see!

I offended nobody here. I just said my personal opinion about a game.
Live with it or lock my I.P.!

For the record...

If you search past threads... you will note that there are many referances to game companies and thier games being mentioned here.

Black Powder Wars - Double Shot Design/Matrix
Crown of Glory - Matrix

to name a couple.

No one from HPS has done anything wrong here....
