I've got to say I'm a bit disappointed about the way this thread is going. I introduce a bit of sledging in good faith and what do I get? Niceness all around! All right all right, I thought the All Blacks of 1987 was the best rugby team I have ever seen and that Ian Botham had that combination of competitive edge and ability to niggle without creating resentment that the present Indian cricket team could study (as could the Australians!) but that's not the point. Can we get back on track please.

Well Colonel Westworland that's because unlike the inhabitants of the large orange island to our west (resembling alcatraz)[:0][:D][:)][:o)] we Kiwis and Britz are gentlemen.

Your mob are alright though. Well except for your current cricket team as at last night. That fella Bradman was quite useful though.

Helga more drinks to this table please [:o)][:p]

Yes gents perhaps we should retire to the colonial club.
Cliff this is banter between countries I don't think its off topic its just giving each other some stick (a hard time in a humourous way) about our nationalities. Sometimes being colonials we refer to sport as its the most relevant area we can give each other stick over. Eg the Australian rugby team suck[:D] well maybe there cricket team as well [:)][:)]. Ours aint flash either though.

Perhaps if the USA played sports other countries played you could participate [:D][:D][:D].

Ed Cricket is the supreme test of strategy and tactics combined with individual skill. Sound familiar? [:D][:D]

Think of it as a very long game of baseball. Also btw it's the 2nd most popular sport in the world [8D]

Colin, are you saying Cricket is for unemployed slackers with too much time on their hands and one too many drinks?

Mon ami a lot of people are out of work not because of them selves but the short sight and greed of the people they work for and the failure of the Government that is set up to protect them .Then you have old people like me that are on a system that says they don’t have to work till they die then you have people who are not healthy enough to compete for this greedy world. And not all of us play cricket!Notevery one can be a Rush Lampballs!

Colin,

I'm sure it ranks just behind that other all time favorite spectator sport, "curling".

Ed what's wrong with curling?[:D].
Jim yes cricket can involve a lot of drinking after a days play.

Now all of our US friends don't worry there is a new form of cricket called 20/20 that only takes 3 hours to 'consume' it should be ideal for the US market[:D] I will post for you all we the IPL tournament starts as I know how interested you will be [:o)]

Helga more drinks please

no offense meant to anyone without a job, it just seems to me you can't have a job and be a real cricket player! As an aside, a buddy of mine was on the Welsh Junior National Cricket Team in highschool. Don't knock curling, it is the national sport in Canada and gets better ratings than even hockey..

Really Jim? Is watching grass grow a sport as well? Actually my wife loves curling, it looks like it would be fun to play.
