Please excuse my ignorance as I've only been around for a little time and do not know the history of the NWC, except that I gather it is very closely aligned with HPS (though I don't know that the NWC is owned by HPS or not).

From my perspective - and I say this with due respect - I expect the forthcoming release of Les Grognards by Histwar/Big Time Software (sometime in 2009?) will leave the HPS Napoleonic system dead in the water. I expect it will be a generational shift in the nature of historical computer gaming of this era. Despite the obvious love many here have for the HPS titles, I expect members will probably take to the more evolved graphics, terrain/OoB/doctrine editors, functioning command system and playability in LG and quickly shift across. Given that LG will enable players to edit & create their own battles (and thus collaborate to create sites like the 'Napoleon in Russia' site for battleground that had lots of historical battles as homemade scenarios) I expect a lot of enthusiam will return to the hobby.

<i>(I have returned to the hobby after a 15 year lay off precisely because a computer game promises to deliver the features I dreamt of back then that overcome the shortcomings of fighting with miniatures - ie. computer umpiring, no rules lawyering, time wasted painting/setting up/moving every little piece, and a grand-tactical command system; yet provides the opportunity for PBEM/multiplayer/LAN games).</i>

Anyway,

I want to ask if there is any expectation that NWC will adopt LG as a game system beside HPS? Is that possible for the club?

I'll be honest and say that I won't be staying with HPS games as I'm playing them only while waiting for LG's release. However, I hope to stay with NWC as this is a club with history and an unsurpassed depth of knowledge in this era. (For example, I recently refought Teugn-Hausen using miniatures with friends (<i>another mode of waiting for LG which I expect will fade away once the game is out!</i>) and found Bill Peter's newsletters and photos of the 1809 campaign terrain utterly BRILLIANT! Much kudos to you, Bill). I realise that LG has been a long time coming but indications are that it is now on the last straight, so I wonder what the possibilities/consensus is...

Cheers

Sir.

I am sure that as long as the game plays by email and can be worked on for the points we have here and guys buy it.
The game could be added .

This club is not run by HPS, But many of the members here do test HPS games and have been with them for a long time ..

If this new game plays good . then i will get it as i like anything to do with Nappy Wars .. There has been many games out in the last 4 years that was said to be better than the HPS games.. Maybe some had better 3d . but when it comes to game play they could not match .

We will see if this can.

For adding any game its not up to me.. But i know the Club admin will always look into any new game to be added if members want it to .

Dean speaks wisely as always...

We normally require a fair amount of feedback from club members as to playability and balance etc...

We are not closed minded here

<i>Mssr</i>.,

Given that the LG game has been "eagerly anticipated" for the last 2 years, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for its release[:o)] ...

Actually for the last 7 years for some...

Still, that doesn't change the essence of the question and I thank you all for your positive answers.

I hope it's worth the wait, though I hope it isn't as bad as his first Austerlitz game.

Now that was such a great idea very badly done..[:(]

We discussed this sometime back. Rick Motko was the big proponent for the game.

Always happy to see more horses in the corral. Doubt it will totally replace HPS though. There is always something about a game system that turns people off.

Quite. ;)

BTW, thanks for that newsletter work on the 1809 battlefields, Bill. Wonderful photographs that really helped me understand the field for Teugn-Hausen (which I'd only seen in HPS format before). I spent quite a happy while thereafter working through the whole campaign and associated links.

Ha! That was my SON Bill PeterSON who also supplied those pics to me when I was working on Eckmuhl. Very timlely stuff in helping me decide whether to add alot of farm or not. Apparently alot of the land is open grass. His pics were most helpful in making that decision.
