Question for the assembled:

At Historicon, I met a fine fellow who's very interested in joining the club in the service of the Tsar. He is Canadian and the one question he wanted me to ask is if there was any problem in non-patriates serving in a national army.

Feedback, particularly from the Russian side of the field, would be most appreciated.

Best,

Jim

I guess that's 80%, the remainder is whether members of the team (any team, not just Russians) are comfortable with non-pats?

Thanks a bunch,

Jim

Of course he can! The whole 7th infantry corps is comprised on "nonrussianspeaking" members.

The only limitation is that he should both fill in the entry form and contact me directly at: anton_kosyanenko[at]yahoo.com There were some problems with the server and I'd like to check one more time it's Ok.

The NWC will never discriminate between the armies and those participating in them.

Whether the army members feel differently about it or not.

When the club goes to a format where only one national type can participate in an army I know that 100 percent of us would just resign! [:D]

I was the founder of the Prussian army and while there is some German blood in me I have only a limited knowledge of the Prussian language (HAHA Scott). I know two sentences in Prussian - "Dont talk back" and "Enjoy the feel of my stick you peasant!"[:D][:p][;)]

We welcome your friend to the Russian army and hope he signs up soon.

And I am glad that he will avoid being abused by Herr Ludwig's cane! [^]

Thank you all very much.

I have forwarded your responses to him and I imagine he'll be about here shortly.

His name is Bill Cann.

Best,

Jim

Bill, you are making a too strong statement.

There is something really attractive in pure national armies or groups within the club. The Russian army 8th corps consists entirely of Russian speaking members and communication is in Russian within it. It allows us to try to speak, think and act as if it was 200 years before. In translation it is merely impossible.

Also we had a Czech corps that was raised by Pavel Stafa, but unfortunately ceased to exist when he left the club. It's obvious most of the Polish NWC members are in the V corps ADR. It's a bit difficult for me to say about other nationalities.

To sum up the patriotic and national sentiments are welcome as long as they do not discriminate the other members. We do not. So, I'm looking forward to hear from Bill

The intent here is to welcome a prospective member. Not to draw this on into a fight.

My statement is correct. Yes, we had an all-French corps some time back too. But we dont mandate that only Frenchmen join the French army. [;)]

Now quit trying to turn this into a battleground (pun) and lets let the new guy enjoy his spotlight.

If you Russians ever try and dominate your army I will send Scott and his wet noodle brigade after you! [8D][:D]

And even more of a threat I will request to transfer to your army and bring some weak lemonade over with me. [:o)]

Its all cool, we know what is what here and again, bring on the new member!

I give up! An awful thread! You will spoil all the stats Bill!!![;)][:p][:D]

Battles ought to be fought on the fields of Glory, not in the Tavern. Here is a right place for a friendly talk "za zhyzn'" (i.e. about the way the life goes). Helga! A glass of kwak to monsieur le Colonel!

Touche sir! [8D] Yes as I live in Wellington I really seem to be on the wrong side of the fence.[:o)]

However like Marechal MacDonald my scottish heritage puts me naturally against the English [:D][:D].

Well really Kiwis don't care who we're fighting and who's on the opposing side. As long as I'm fighting I'm happy [:D]

Boers, Turks, Germans, English, Japanese, Vietnamese, Moari, Malayasian, Italian, Egyption, Yugoslavian, Bosnian-Serbian, Iragi, Afghani, Spanish, Aussie....we're quite international and non-discrimitory really [:p]. Napoleon was likewise a sharing person [:)]

Who doesn't enjoy a good dust up! Feel free to disagree....[:D]

As far as I can understand we Aussies spent most of the 19th century preparing for a Russian attack. By a convoluted logic that I won't try to reproduce, that seems to put us in the french camp for the napoleonic wars. OK, making it all up, it just seemed something to do when I joined.
