Gentlemen Officers:

Please take a moment from your momentous conflicts to help me welcome our newest officer, Ensign TJ Shelby, to the command of the Duke of York's 1st Field Battalion in our fine Hanoverian Brigade! :P :P :P

And yes, as is our usual habit, all of the drinks today are on Ensign Shelby's tab. I am having several myself, although I do realize that when his funds are depleted, I shall be forced to spot him the difference out of our Brigade's coffer. I suppose that will just give us added incentive to capture a few more French trophies in order to replenish our funds.

Step up to the bar, good gentlemen, while the night is young and the tankards are still full!

Welcome to the Hanoverians, good sir! I'm a gin and tonic man myself, and am not known for turning down a free drink. I look forward to toying with the French along side you in the battles to come.

Welcome, sir!

'Twas not so long ago that we emptied the purse of one of your fellows, so I see no reason not to do the same for you. So long as the pints are full and I never have to stare at an empty glass for more than a few seconds, ale will do me just fine.

(To himself the Marechal ponders, "One must wonder if the Hanoverians were not falling in battle at such a prodigious rate, would their commander and recruiting sergeant need to be so busy re-filling the ranks?")

Cheers!

Welcome Marechal Bardon! No guardsman shall ever go thirsty at our table, irrespective of the uniform he wears.

Mind your manners now, Ensign Shelby. Marechal Bardon in one of the very finest officers in the French command. An honorable soldier and a most dangerous opponent. He has earned the respect of all. Unfortunately, he has placed his covetous eye on the new sword which I carry, complements of Sir Muddy's fine, German swordsmith. That is the nature of our conflict, a friendly drink together in our beloved tavern and an honorably murderous intent on the field of battle. I would be hard pressed to choose which part is my favorite.

Officers and Gentlemen,

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I look forward to sharing the field of battle with each of you. In the case of the honorable Frenchmen here, hopefully you stay beyond the reach of my sword should we meet there.

Drinks are on me and I don't want to see an empty glass tonight.

Let us drink to honor and glory.

What's this? These damn Hanoverians seem to be recruiting well to replace their casualties
Well never the less welcome ensign!

Why Ensign Shelby, you do seem to be drawing quite an esteemed crowd!

Welcome to our table, General Barlow! Always good to have some of our own beloved Guardsmen join us. A fine example to set before our young Ensign.

And General Dobson as well I am happy to see! He is, after all, the ranking Hanoverian officer and a splendid horseman, particularly when hotly pursued by irate Frenchmen. I fear that my appointment to the command of our fine brigade only means that I am responsible for most of the paperwork.

And then we have GdD Knox! Perhaps my favorite of all the French officers. A man of great honor and a most formidable opponent. I have only had the privalege to meet him once upon the battlefield, but he was most helpful in adjusting some of my flawed tactics. As I recall, he would say things like, "Not sure that move was really wise", "Oh, I would never have done that" and "That move is going to cost you!"

Helga, drinks all around! The night is still young and these fine officers are still sober.
