I was just thinking - it would be interesting to read the CNN headlines about a Napoleonic battle:
Borodino - "This is Julie Noteworthy coming to you live from the CNN News Center. Today, the French general, Napoleon, lead his men in a costly attack today, throwing away men's lives needlessly. Reports are filtering back to Paris (via French Twitter) and the mobs filled the streets briefly before being chased off by the National Guard. Meanwhile, reports are that his army will not last the winter. I turn now to our reporter on the spot, Geraldo Riverso. Geraldo, what is the situation like there on the ground."
"It's just horrific, Julie, the smoke from the battle fills your lungs and visibility is next to nothing. A poor old Russian man sits near me nursing his wound and sipping from a bottle of vodka. He holds his innards towards his stomach. I don't think he will last long. Men are piled in long lines where they once proudly stood in battle. Now it is all for nothing as they lay dead atop their comrades. A French captain hurries past me. One arm dangles at his side. Sir, can you tell me what is going on at the front?"
"Mais non, monsieur, ..."
[rushes past Geraldo]
"Wow, what was that ... a caisson just exploded in the redoubt named after the brave Russian officer who commanded the garrison. More French cavalrymen ride back to the rear, their uniforms blackened by the smoke from the cannon. I tell you, I haven't seen anything so bad since I left Tulsa, Oklahoma after reporting on the mail truck accident last year! Well this doesn't compare to THAT but you get my meaning. This is just bloody awful, Julie. Geraldo Reverso signing off."
"Well there you have it. Reports are in that the French government may topple at any moment. Come back in five minutes after a word from our sponsors and Rona Barrett will take you live to an interview with Josephine, the former wife of Napoleon. She has information about the government that inquiring minds want to know!"
