I got an email from Joe Amoral (who does our artwork) last night to let me know that he had received communication from John Tiller and that though the Huntsville area was hit hard by tornadoes the Tiller family's home was not along the line of those twisters. FYI for those of you wondering how he was doing.

The South and Midwest have been bombarded by severe weather. It is really sad to see the photos on the web that have been posted. I hope that all of you that live in those areas are ok.

Yes we are thinking of our American brothers inlcuding John. The USA offered New Zealand aid on an unprecedented scale following our recent disasters. Including I believe a Marine task force no less. The yanks are first to give last to receive I suspect.

God Bless the USA - our thoughts from down under are with you.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, guys. We are good here on the east side of Atlanta. We had a tornado pass very near the house at 1:20 AM but, fortunately for us, it was not on the ground at the time. I was watching the weather radar so I knew it was coming. It was relatively calm until it arrived, but things changed almost instantaneously when it hit. I admit that we just got plain lucky here. I'll take lucky any day.

The poor folks in Alabama bore the brunt of the damage. The tornado that passed through Tuscaloosa, Alabama was one of the largest and most powerful tornadoes ever recorded with wind velocities exceeding 200 mph. It was very strong, had a very wide path and stayed on the ground for an extremely long time. There are some towns that are totally gone. The death toll stands at nearly 300 at the present time and, like most disasters, is still rising. Given the excellent warning systems that we have in the USA, these are unprecidented casualties from tornadic activity.

The loss of my hard drive yesterday has really hampered my communications as I have, temporarily at least, lost all of my contact information. I really do not have the time at present to try to restore anything. It will have to wait until I receive the new hard drive from Dell on Monday. There will be a great deal of work involved and I simply do not have the time to do it twice.

I know that Scott Reed lives in Birmingham, Alabama and that they were hit very hard. Tuscaloosa is only about 30 miles to the west of Birmingham. If you are reading this Scott, please let us know that you are OK. That goes for anyone else here in the South USA. I actually did not know that John Tiller lived in Huntsville, Alabama before reading this thread.

Once again, thanks for your concern.
