What if Napoleon had followed Blucher and left Ney to pursue Wellington?

Imagine a scenario where the whole of the Prussian army, available to Blucher on June 18th, are at Wavre with Napoleon facing them with Grouchy's wing, the Guard, VI Corps, and the two heavy cav corps.

Maybe N would leave Ney with I & VI Corps and some extra cavalry to 'hold' Wellington to his ridge. Of course this force would be too small to do the job, so W could slip troops to Blucher's assistance.

So N might have I, III, IV inf corps, the Guard, and II, III & IV cav corps with him initially. Blucher has the remnants of his army with Wellington racing to help him with his Reserve Corps? Wonder if that could be a good game or not?

Alternately, could Ney vs Prince of Orange at Waterloo be a good game?

Hmmmm....

And you were looking for a partner Herr Amos?

If you would join the Anglo-Allies we could pair up fighting with our respective armies. Jon Thayer could run me over and you could come to save the day!

Ok Scott, I will not dissuade the lad from joining Prussia! 8)

OOOLLLLAAANNNSSSS!!! OOOLLLLAAANNNNSSSS!!

The 6th Uhlans await your command Herr Amos, Duke of Tulscany.

But would he have done so?

I believe he would have. For QB the armies were not in supporting range and that is why I believe that Napoleon made a huge mistake on the 17th when he marched on La Belle Alliance. He should have kept after Blucher with his force and made Wellington make the longer march.

Had Napoleon kept up the pressure instead of marching the Guard and VI Corps over a long distance I believe that he could have wiped out the Prussians before the Anglo-Allies arrived.

One of the great what-ifs of the bicentennial discussions on the battle.

Andrew, no he would have done what he did. I'm just thinking out loud about a different scenario or two for us to play. Whatifs don't have to realistic or probable, just interesting.

Rumor has it that Al is working on a new scenario called "I left my heart in Oklahoma."

The Russian militia against the French conscripts of 1813! Includes native forces from F&IW.
