Pierre reminded me of the old days in his campaign speech when we first got going. For those of you that may remember here was how it all started:

1. I sent an email to Pierre D. asking if he would help start up a sister Napoleonic club. He had been thinking on similar lines. Myself and others were also not wanting a ladder club as the guys for the most part were hit or miss with game files and we like the idea of the armies. We had initial conversations about it. I believe that Mark Adams was involved but it was so long ago now that I have forgotten. Steve joined in as well and once Pierre got the logistics of the home club website figured out, as well as adding in a forum for us, we were on the map.

2. Initial Army COs.

French CinC - Steve Peluso

Allied Coalition CinC - I had this for a bit and then moved over to let Paul Harris be the CinC
Anglo-Allied - thought it was Simon Patrick but newsletter says Allen Torgesson Could have sworn he was the Russian CinC ... I know that Simon commanded briefly.
Prussian - myself
Russian - Cannot remember as Allen's name comes up for some reason.

While the Austrian army was listed it would not be until just around the time that Eckmuhl or Wagram was released that I forwarded the suggestion that we add it to the club. Playing the Austrians in playtest fired me up to start the army.

Also added as components of the Anglo-Allied army were the Dutch & Spanish armies.

3. Initial Cabinet:

Steven J. Peluso President
Pierre Desruisseaux Sec. of State
Ray Panfil Sec. of War

We had three games to play then and we played them to death. NIR: Kutusov turns to fight and the historical Waterloo were hands down the favorites. QB and Ligny and the Twin Battles following. I cannot remember how many times I started the French units off towards the Russian right flank only to get torn apart by Jim Dobbins! (we would swap sides a lot in those days - something that I wish we would do more of now).

Eckmuhl came along and the guys were off romping around the Bavarian countryside ...

But it was a blast back then and still is here.

A big thanks to ALL that made this club happen and continue!

Take a look at our first club newsletter started up by Pierre, himself, to see how things looked in the Frontier Days of the NWC.

YES!! I did forget that. If it wasnt for the latency issues caused by the collisions of ships I would still be playing Age of Sail. It was one of my fav. all time games.

BG Schlueter and I played the daylights out of that game. He really enjoyed online gaming.

The second game was nicer to look at but had some real issues.

I wish I had kept the website as it would be fun to look back at.

I played Salvo with another member and it is fun too but takes a long time to get into the action. It is We-Plot/We-Go and works very well. It lacks some of the details that I want in a computer program though. I can never understand why programs lack the level of detail of a boardgame. They have it all over a paper game in that you can track damage and repair to a rudder for instance. Or which gun actually got dismounted/destroyed. I just shake my head at this lack of detail ...

If I had the money I would hire a programmer that would develop THE Napoleonic battle game as well as naval game.
