Guys - we playtested for the last (many) months using a game engine that no longer kept temp files. Really nice too. Thus the PBEMAIL.xxx and .yyy files go away once you close up the game. (but the campaign temp files remain - not something that John could do away with)
We had ZIP ZERO issues with the game based on the old problems we were having. Such as: "I opened the file and it is your turn and I can see your units - they should be hidden ...." Which would often lead to the game not working anymore. And having to go back several turns to try and get it working right. This is GONE.
I thought you guys would like to hear this and that it worked without a hitch.
Something good that you will enjoy in future titles and I hope that this change is done to all of John's games that use temp files.
So to repeat - no longer will the pbemail.yyy and pbemail.xxx files remain after you close your PBEM games (stand alone battles). You will still see temp files for the campaigns.
The pbemail.yyy file was the one that often would cause us grief. Kiss it good bye! (bags fly free too!

)
