When "No Melee Eliminations" optional rule is selected, does the game engine still allow for surrender as an option during defeated melee results? I recall the BG system occasionally would pop up a dialog saying the unit surrendered, which was different than being eliminated for failure to rout.

Also, what are the pros/cons for selecting "Weak Zone of Control" optional rule? And any reasons in terms of combat simulation for this period of warfare that justifies it.

If there is thread elsewhere that answers these questions, please link it.

Regards

No melee elimination merely prevents units from being eliminated if trapped and losing a melee. Make sure Partial retreats is unchecked however. In the BG games they were eliminated if trapped and the points counted towards VP. In both games if Isolation is checked, any units routed and isolated will be eliminated automatically if meleed, and count towards VP's.

I prefer weak zoc, a unit trapped forever isn't realistic.

Hope that helps
