Sept 6th, 1813:

The Chef de Battalion, being newly assigned to the staff of the Army of Berlin, is standing near to the commander in chief himself.

The Prince of Moskowa, Bravest of the Brave, has received his orders from L'Empereur.
To take the Army of Berlin, and march on that capital city.

Even now, the cavalry screen fast approaching Dennewitz, reports numerous columns of enemy soldiers, squadrons, and batteries of guns, also moving towards that village.

Should the Army of the North, under Crown Prince Bernadotte, attempt to stop him, Marechal Ney vows to defeat the traitor, and avenge the honor of our just cause.

Ah, the brave French dare assail our capital! Who will defend Prussia's honor? Is there a brave Prussian (or Swedish or Russian for that matter) that will step up and take this Frenchmen's challenge?

The courier from the semaphore station enters the tavern breathlessly.

"Oh, Monsieur von Dennewitz, apologies good sir.

"I'm afraid inclement weather, notably fog, delayed the transfer of the first part of this thread, and it appears unfortunate that what should have been the second post was delivered first, by courier on horseback. Such are the vagaries of our communication system (see the havoc just such an episode wrecked upon La Grande Armee at the onset of the 1809 Campaign).

"Here I have the first part, which goes as follows...

"Officers of the armies, salute! Here is the opening account of the newly begun battle, being fought between the Tirailleurs et Dragons! and the Brunswicker Brigade. These officers are leading their respective forces towards one another at the village of Dennewitz, where an engagement is to be expected."

The courier paused to drink from a flagon of fine ale before continuing.

"So you see sir, the threat to your city has been honorably met, by Colonel Zafer Ejder, and Lieutenant Omar Quatar. Even now, they mount to the defense of the capital."

1410 hrs: The Armies of Berlin and the North have maneuvered their way into positions around the village of Golsdorf, and along the road south of Seehausen.

There have been wild and savage cavalry melees, and the Prussian lancers have won the first honors in these skirmishes, inflicting much harm upon their Saxon foes.

Yet, even now, the cries of "Rally!" are sounding, and the drums beat as the fantassins quickly advance to stem the onrushing tide of Allied forces.

Regards,

After 26 turns, the glory french army has push the first prussian attack of the right wing back.
But they are really brave, Marshall Ney can see the next attack in the centrum of the brave french infantrymen lines.
And let us not forget the advance of the left wing. Yes it is true, the prussians are overall.
But two french officers hold the line, no yard back mens, hold the line. Tomorrow we will sleep in the beds of Berlin
This is the situation in the area aroung Gölsdorf.

By Seehausen the sweden arrived and the prussians hold their line against the french advance.
The question is, how long

Greetings to the fine officers of the Berlinarmy

Sept 6th, 1813

Turn 40 (of 48)

1730 hrs
: The decisive hour of the battle is upon us.

At 1720 hrs the Army of the North struck several severe blows upon the Army of Berlin in the fierce fighting around the village of Golsdorf, including the recapture of the objective hex there.
The result, including the capture of GD Franquemont, led to a French VP total of -30, a Draw (-500 = Minor Defeat).

Marechal Ney, re-organizing his forces, took note of the long columns of Russian reinforcements marching along the road towards Golsdorf. He issued his orders, and the eagles counter-attacked! The resulting tactical fights have brought the French VP total back up to nearly 200.

Now, both sides gather their remaining strength, exhausted as it is, for the final moments, when victory, draw, or defeat will finally be determined.

Regards,

Sept 6th, 1813,

The Battle of Dennewitz has been brought to a close as a Draw.

The offensive towards Berlin was fought to a halt, by the sturdy and capable Prussian & Russian Corps' of the Army of the North.

Marechal Ney will now lead his eagles back towards a union with La Grande Armee and L'Empereur.

The Allies were led by Col Zafer Ejder and Capitaine Omar Quatar of the Brunswicker Brigade.
The French were commanded by Capitaine Michael Hoedl and myself, of the Tirialleurs et Dragons!.

This concludes one of two battles currently being fought in a Brigade Challenge between four combat teams, two from the Tirailleurs et Dragons! and one each from the Hanoverian and Brunswicker Brigades.

One battle remains, being fought in the NRC scenario SB_Tournament.

The semaphor station eagerly awaits new reports from that battle, upon which the claims of victory for this challenge now hang.

Regards,
