I think that a vote is needed for team play and not just a Tournament game ! Why get teams up just to play in a Tournament why not have team play all the time. I like the HR games I like the work that the Russian prince did. Bravo to that but a 1812 game only is still in the same old box. I like getting and playing out of the same ole box I am still in that ole tournament and it's been a year! Bill's Prussi led the way lets keep that kind of spirit going. I played the 1805 long game and it was fun I was fighting the Brunswick general one on one 255 turns. It would have been better if I was on a team.

From my perspective, no vote is needed. All officers are currently free to engage in team play at any time they choose. It is nothing more than a Multi-Player game which is already fully supported by our DoR System. The only difference that I could see would be if you actually wanted to track the
performance results of the various teams. I think this is really the "statistical data" to which Vladimir referred in another post.

I am already collecting data from the games I am involved in and I believe Lt Colonel Schmidgall is doing the same.

I also keep a spreadsheet of my games played, Al. I think a lot of officers do actually. The trick would lie in implementing a central record, presumably in our DoR, that can track this data. I know Dominik can make virtually anything a reality if he has clear direction and time.

Greetings fellow officers,

May I join you at the table?
Helga, more drinks here, all around, on my tab please, dear.

Regarding the idea of tracking the record of a combat team, be it of a Div, or Brig, or what have you, the DOR already tracks the record of each officer. Battles listed, dates (?), etc.
All you would need to do is create an entity to represent the fighting team. It's game registration would be handled by the appropriate assigned commander of the force: Brig/Div commander, or provisional officer.

Just a thought.

Ah, Helga, thank you.
Gentlemen! Salute!

Oui ,mon ami we will now all share the pain. It just means that we still have the Popping Jays with 500 wins but we will have also the National game winners. I can now wear my new Uniform and look as pretty as ever! 8) 8) 8)

What Clifton is talking about, I think, could be represented by an on-going club-wide tournament that would pit NATIONAL teams, i.e. French vs English; Prussian vs French; Russian vs Prussian; English vs Russian, etc.

It could be a more or less open ended tournament, but having some structure. It would be more than just Allies vs French. These would be MP games, by their nature.

Is this along the right lines??

ernie,
i like that idea. but i think at some point the points need to be totaled. perhaps at the end of a year and a winner for that year declared. you could call it the presidents cup or something.
cliff, if that is what you were saying then i agree with you too..

I assume that everyone is aware that the victories for all of the armies are totalled annually in the DoR already.

If we are going to follow this path, I think that we should establish some rules as to the relative composition of the National Teams. My understanding of Vladimir Repnin's original concept was to use this as a means to engage our younger members in teams with our senior members, preferably along unit lines (i.e. Brigade/Division/Corps). This is generally the same concept as what I used in the MP pairings for the SON Tournament teams and what I have been doing with the Hanoverian Brigade since I assumed its command about a year ago. If we institute National Teams for annual bragging rights, I see this quickly devolving into killer groups formed along provisional lines. I honestly don't see that as providing any overall benefit for our club. I already see plenty of division in our club along National lines. What I would like to see is a bit more harmony among fellow gamers. I would like to see the senior officers help the junior officers to grow and develop into fine gentlemen officers, not rabid Nationalists. In my mind, there should not be any form of National brainwashing in this club. There is a difference between being cordially competitive for fun, and entirely too competitive for respective egos and bragging rights. We really need to do everything we can to promote the former, and actively avoid the latter.

Hearing the words of the wise Hanoverian Brigadier, the Tirailleur sheepishly puts away the dart board he was preparing to set up and play with the scribe.

Well, to be more correct, he removed the paper cover that contained drawings (done by an artist friend he had met during his days in Italy) of the various royal family members of the ancien regimes. Funny, how when you looked at them, they all peered back at one so similarly.

But fun! the Brigadier had said.
Yes, fun indeed is what all of this should truly be about.

And funny how, many of my best friends here come from over the hill, and beyond the river, if you know what I mean.

Regards,

Great! Magnifico! Charmant! Zamechatelno! Thank you, Mark! That's what I'm talking about too! :D
Esprit du Corps!!! The only true basis could unite newcomers and veterans of NWC, and the club would survive with it. We can create the real socium of friends and adherents on the base.
Yes, we have a lot of divisions, brigades but officers do not know each other and the divisional/brigade commanders do not know their officers. Is it a club, gentlemen? We are dissociated. It is a noshery.
Any divisional / brigade veteran (staff-officer) could create a team of his formation fellow young officers.
I know, many of them would gladly participate. We have 250 members! Are we filing this? :?
We just need the initiative of our glorious veterans. Where are you?
Gentlemen officers, let's give NWC the second chance and new life. :D
FALL IN!!!

I am in full agreement with the purpose of Divisional tournaments as outlined by both Mark and Vladimir. As a former educator, I can attest to the great value of teams with mixed experience and which take on a mentor role. Well said gentlemen!

Gentlemen,
the small R&H scenario, that I promised you, is ready; this is a 12 turns NRC based variant of the Historical Battle of Pruzhany, August 8th,1812. Advance Guards action.
Tormasov's 3rd Observation Army against Schwarcenberg's XII and Reynier's VII th Corpses. Pretty balanced.
Now, I'm finishing a full 56 turns variant of the battle scenario.
