Wanted to start a little discussion on people's general and specific thoughts regarding the 4-day Leipzig battle from JT's Campaign Leipzig... as it relates to play balance.

As a pre-amble, I am so so so appreciative that Leipzig was officially released... this is my favorite campaign and battle... so much going on in the heart of Europe in 1813, lots of different armies and troops, etc. I have 4 battles going on right now, both as a French and Allied commander in order to appreciate both sides' perspectives. My sincere thanks to John Tiller, Bill Peters and the rest of the cast who helped bring this to fruition!

Some of my opening thoughts/critiques:

- If the French want to go toe-to-toe with the (ultimately) greatly superior Allied forces, the French commander needs to be extremely cunning in terms of tactics & manouvre, and needs to husband their resources very carefully
- I am not a big fan of the West side-of-the-map exit hexes, where players can exits their armies to gain victory points... I prefer to see a fight for the city of Leipzig; to that point, I think the Victory Point schedule needs to be adjusted similar to some of the other 1-day Leipzig battles, where the winner will tend to be the one who inflicts the most casualties and gains the most # of objectives (other than exit hexes)
- I think morale is still too high for most of the units in most of the armies, which leads to the unrealistic bloodbaths (yes, I have read the H&R threads)

I am playtesting a variant where I've eliminated the exit hex VP's, and have reduced the morale values across the board in logical & historical way in order to encourage less "iron men". I will be happy to share the results of it once completed.

Look forward to hearing others' thoughts!

Hmmm, another French recruit whose commission goes unannounced by LGA Command. Now if I did not know better, I would think our French brethren are trying to stiff us poor Coalition officers for the drinks that they should be buying. After all, we Hanoverians are very generous in our purchase of favored libations.

Of course, we Coalition officers do collect a lot of French booty from our numerous victories on the Fields of Honor. Perhaps we have inadvertently managed to break the Empyreal bank. A shame for the Corsican I suppose.

Here, Sous-Lieutenant Cavallin, since your own command has chosen to ignore your commission, I will gladly buy you a drink on my tab. The only request I would make is that you revise your forum signature to reflect the cavalry unit that you now command. That is, unless of course you are ashamed of the posting.

Jagermeister, sir? It will put hair on your chest! It needs to do something beneficial, as it is certain to also destroy your vocal chords, stomach lining, and generally your entire GI tract.
