Hi all.
I was playing both an old Eckmuhl scenario at the same time as playing a scenario from Leipzig and I thought that the flow of battle in the Leipzig scenario was alot nicer with its 10 minute turns and squadron sized cavalry units. As the software developer as I am, I built a small java program that can transform OOB, PDT and SCN files.

PDT files are transformed to conform with the stacking limits in Bautzen/Austerlitz 1800 inf, 600 cav etc. Movement cost and weapon effectiveness is also taken from there. I have included a new weapon.dat file with a few more weapons. I am planning to do something about the missing mortars as well in the future as well as equip the Austrians with their inferior muskets.

OOB file is modified the have cavalry regiments (units bigger than 300) to be divided into sqdns. the basic divider is 4 for the french. But Austrian heavy and dragons get 6 sqdns and light Austrian horse get 8. And according to the PDT all sqdns can break down to 2 parts.

The scenarios are modified so that the my squadrons are used. I am replacing broken down squadrons with oob squadrons when needed. The thing that isn't complete is that regiments with losses when the scenario starts are not applied to the squadrons. I hope I have fixed what needs fixing in the scenarios, they all open OK for me. Scenario length is recalculated to match the end of the original scenario. Naming standard is something I borrowed from Leipzig.

The best thing about this mod is that it is completely generated so any changes that needs to be done can be done and then I get a new set of oob-files, pdt-files and scn-files.

Doing the same transformation for Wagram, Waterloo, and NRC should also be possible. I just need some input on what to do there.

I have included all the standard scenarios but it should be easy to generate all the campaign scenarios as well.

Back up your weapon.dat before applying this mod (a backup is part of the archive).

Please let me know what you think about this and tell me if it is worth continue working on.

I would like to play-test a few scenarios myself and see how they turn out.

Download it from here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6582618/Eckmuhl_mod.zip

Hi,

Sure, I am honored to play with the creator himself.
Kindly let me know which side you want me to play and which scenario you have chosen. Also please let me know your optional rules. You can send me your message to: raymond@bursch.ch

I am looking forward!

Couriers dispatched.

Thanks for the help with play testing. Let me know how it plays out and if I have made any mistakes.

It looks good. All the files are new so I don't think overwrite anything when installed - except for the weapons.dat file.

I'd be interested, but in the exact opposite direction - turning 10 minute turns to 15 min. :D

Rich, transforming scenarios from 10 to 15 minute turns only should be quite easy. At least if we keep cavalry in squadrons.
