I have to admit, and with all due respect to those of you who really put a lot of your time into administering this Club (and it is just a club, man!), that I am not interested in all these divisive arguments. I just want to meet some liked-minded dudes (don't ever recall there being any females... well, I seem to recall that there was ONE around 10 years ago or so... quite popular) who like to talk shop and mess around with some games. I don't really care of my rank to be honest with you, and would be equally happy being referred to as 'Tim'.

I would wager that the vast majority of the members feel the same way as I do. They just want to find someone to replay these battles with.

I hope that all this divisiveness goes away soon, because I believe it really taints the Club, and I suspect that some prospective new members probably read some of this stuff, and just walk away and join 'Blitz' or some other place where opponents can be found.

Just my two cents.

(I still raise my hat to all of you who do put your time and effort into administering the club... thanks, and great job! let's keep it up, and get back to our raison d'etre!)

Thanks,
Tim

I will interject a small comment, I concur with the thoughts, but also note, that all those who voted "Yes" for the revised Rules, I hope you understand politics is what you'll get every year now with the elections that'll take place. Sure some elections will be straight forward, while others might be a bit more murky and "political"....so everyone has been forewarned.... :)

I've been in this club over 15 years and it was always a fun place to be, but recently the atmosphere has been seriously soured by all this infighting, personality clashes, and politics. Come on guys, who needs this aggravation? Try and patch things up and get back to having some fun. Please... :)

To be a bit more clear, there are some caveats, sort of, that can be positive. The ACWGC when they introduced elections, there were a lot of "political" elections with their share of fighting et al. But over the years the Club makeup had changed and most positions often so unopposed or with little fanfare and some small exchanges of ideas. Sometimes stuff flares up, but it is a bit cooler than it used to be.

So that is something to consider too, that as time goes on and people forget what took place, it might become less of an issue.....

No one does Antony, but some have been putting up with it for almost two & half years now on some level or another. These aren't issues born yesterday, the members are just seeing now what has been going on for a while....

Either way it'll pass eventually.

Scott, when I read this it sounds like you are intimating that the membership having the privilege and the right to vote for their leadership positions is a bad thing (correct me please if my understanding is wrong...), or will certainly cause some headaches...

And the alternative to this, for those who voted NO for the Revised Rules, or from your PoV, should have voted NO would be what?

Would this be an alternative to the membership voting for their leaders: A CiC decides it is time for him to resign the position of his Army Command, and his role as CiC, so informing his fellow Cabinet members.

The Cabinet proceeds to discuss among themselves how best to address the situation.

The departing CiC proffers the suggestion that finding a replacement for the vacant positions be put to a vote by the membership, but, his fellow Cabinet members decide in favor of themselves asking one specific person to assume the position...

That sounds like elitism to me...
And it surely smacks of back room dealing...

So a few good people know what is best for the masses... ?

Regards,

I'm sorry Tim, Antony & Michael, wasn't trying to change the focus of this topic, was simply trying to say I understand how you guys feel, I really do.....having been on discussions that should never see the light of day......I know how you guys feel, I think a lot of us do. :)

I know. This is just an escape from reality for most of us. We don't always have lots of time to indulge in these types of underlying passions (that no one else who is normal will ever understand :D ). We have demanding wives and kids, hectic jobs, etc. Just want to make the most of our spare time... and enjoy.

Maybe we need another board lsimilar to the "Reading Room" where we can "discuss" club business, organization, rules? Keeping it off the main board will make it easier to avoid for those who wish to.

That's how a lot of us feel, probably 90% if not more. It is/was for me too. But when the escape becomes so annoying and mired with real life things, it losses its value as an escape from reality. It needs to be simple & easy for people to be a part of, not another full time job. :)

I will say that it'll get better, it'll be back to the usual eventually, I really do hope so and I hope I am wrong about the politics and what not. It is hard when you have a set of people really dedicated and the majority of members really casual about things. That's when things collide. :)
