Dear Mr Barredo,


It is with enormous pleasure that we are able to forward you the attached award; the Army Gold Medal.

On recommendation of the horse guards together with the Prince of Orange his staff quarters, in all their mighty wisdom, discussed your case last evening. It did become quit late before they were able to smoke all cigars and brandy offered to them but this morning they forwarded their decision to my tent. It was brought to me by an attractive young lady called Helga which I recognized, but eh…will not speak of any further. The document is attached.


But, without the administrative nonsense, you are recommended for this award because of your activities as Acting CO for the Austrian & Swedish army.

Congratulations Sir!
