Gentlemen,
Most of you will not know me, however many of the ‘Old Guard’ of both the French and the Allies do. I started with the club in 1998-1999, with many who are still here…many now long gone. I reached the rank of Général de Division in the AdN, had some time off and decided to begin again as an Ensign of the Allies in a club that I loved. Over the years we had similar situations as now with members spitting the dummy out ( For my American cousins..the comforter) of the pram, resigning , the rejoining…multiple times, moaning and dripping on the forums etc etc. However this is the worse I have witnessed and to be perfectly honest this situation is absolutely disgraceful. When senior members start throwing the towel in like Scott and others, we all really have to take stock and I mean now. Some of the emails I have seen from members about this situation are actually beyond belief..Insubordination..for gods sake!!!, once you start using terms like that in, what should be a fraternal wargaming society, then as we say in Scotland ‘the game is a bogey…it’s over’ We may be from all over the world, have different political, religious views etc, however one thing we all have in common is our love military history and wargaming. This situation has now reached a critical mass and we are in real danger of self destruction. Unless all members and I include the leadership here pull back now and I mean right now, stop this bloody nonsense about disciplining members, accusations, counter accusations, mass emails, private emails…bloody infantile stupidity..then we can kiss the NWC goodbye. Now what I suggest is that all of you get on Teamspeak and actually talk to each other (I have a server and will gladly chair any meeting)or the cabinet disbands and we elect again..or we split, reform or never we meet again.
To be absolutely honest here Gentlemen, the language and the sentiments that have been expressed here by all parties has been totally unacceptable. You should all take responsibility for this and stop it now. This club is not just about you and your petty ego’s, its about all of the membership. Now I think we should all sit down and quietly reflect on what’s going on and the emails appealing to different sides/factions should stop now, because if it continues..who is going to win? The cabinet? Particular individuals? Gentlemen we are haemorrhaging members as we speak…what are you going to do about it?
Regards
Stuart Wilson

I think critical mass was reached some time ago. I guess the club was heading to this point since we seem to have one small group of individuals who were unable to accept change, move forward and let bygones be bygones.. It is probably for the best that they are now gone. Perhaps now we can have some normalcy return. I don't think we are really hemmoraging members it is just that there has been a lot of visibity to the recent departures. I wish them all well perhaps the best thing is for them to do is to start another club with the like minded.

Ed,
Not helpful, not helpful at all. What we need is conciliatory discussions, not fuel on the fire. Blame games are not going to work, factions are not going to work...we play internet soldiers..if any of you think its more..then i am missing something.

The few that are departing have resorted to some pretty underhanded and destructive behaviour. Their emphasis was not to play games and participate in the spirt of the club - As Ed indicates and I support very much - these memebers have caused too much damage to invite them back - several have already had second chances and their schemes only got worse.

Honestly - they will not be happy to they drive enough people away that they can get what they want. I for one do not want them back - we need to rebuild the clube with the remaining postive members that we have - we do not need what they brought to the table

Stuart,

I joined the NWC originally back in the late 1990's like yourself, when Battleground Waterloo came out.... followed a similar career path as you, took some time off, and then rejoined a few years later. What a time that was... I just could not believe that I could refight the battle of Waterloo on my PC... LOL! I even remember meeting you on the field of battle some 15 many years ago.

Your note resonates quite well with me on so many levels. I haven't been able to express my feelings about this in public, but the way you worded it pretty much sums up my view as well.

Anyway, I look forward to getting my Turn 30 of Waterloo back to you over the weekend.

Happy Easter my friend!

I hear you Stuart. I have been around since December 1998, and I too am appalled, saddened and ashamed by the state of things right now, but I remain hopeful. All I have to say on the matter on this Easter weekend is, blessed are the peacemakers
