Hi All,

We are proud to announce that the Prussian forces now have a new headquarters (website). The current name for the forces is the Königlich-Preußisches Armee-Korps (Royal Prussian Army Corps). The "new" website is actually a restoration of the old one in most cases. Most of the former pages have been restored, though several have been discontinued in use. Also the large wealth of information in the Library & Archives has returned as well.

A couple changes have occurred, we are not considered a full army right now, we are a corps, something that I am not exactly pleased by, but an agreement with the Coalition Command Staff was made. A very large, extensive Order of Battle was made, allowing us to have a lot of units, in exchange for being just a "Corps" concept. In doing so we had the liberty to add whatever units we wanted. So a vote of the members was taken to agree on the new Order of Battle and 100% of the members approved the new one. In the "Notes on the Order of Battle" that explains this it mentions that it is a blend of units from the 1813 Befreiungskriege (Wars of Liberation), also known as the War of the Sixth Coalition period and the 1815 Waterloo (100 Days) Campaign period. The use of units from the 1806 Jena Campaign was rejected. With the 1813 & 1815 Campaigns, we restored many units used in the OOB that we used when I was last with the Prussian Armee. We also added in some units that have never been used in a Club based Prussian OOB. These units were centered around German states of Hessen-Kassel, Anhalt-Dessau & the various Saxon and Thüringen Duchies, who were associated with the Prussian Armee, in particular in the 1815 Waterloo Campaign, but were held back in a corps that never saw action in that short lived campaign. It was decided that the most Prussian territorial & German state units that generally could be used, were used, to give people options of units & areas that they might like to join & lead.

Other major changes were either graphical in nature or music related. Various pages now have music added to them that were sound files from the original Battleground Waterloo & Prelude to Waterloo games. Also a series of new banner style graphics have been employed on various pages, either custom to those pages or generic to the Armee-Korps overall. They either include paintings or real life relevant images to those pages, such as the inside of the Befreiungshalle (Hall of Liberation) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Befreiungshalle that is being used for the banner image of our "Valhalla" Preußische Armee Ruhmeshalle (Prussian Armee Hall of Glory) or the official list of those inactive/retried officers who are commemorated for having served Prussia & the Club with Great Honor & Distinction. The main page employs the use of an image of the Brandenburg Gate. The actual OOB page reuses the image of Blücher at Bautzen into a banner that is used in several pages throughout the site. The Generalstaff Dispatches page uses an image from the inside of Hohenzollern Castle, which is considered the ancestral seat of where the Prussian Royal Family came from. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hohenzollern_Castle Speaking of which, the page we had to the Prussian Royal family at the time of the wars, König Friedrich Wilhelm III & Königin Luise and its subpage of Royal Decrees, used to note those who volunteered for tourney's in the Club, uses two separate images of the beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which was the Royal Residence for the Prussian Monarchs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlottenburg_Palace Finally the Medals page uses an image of the Völkerschlachtdenkmal Monument to the Battle of the Nations that was built in commemoration of the Battle of Leipzig http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monument_t ... he_Nations The other graphical changes are the use of icons again in the OOB.

A fair amount of overview of events that have occurred since November of 2014 was mentioned in the GeneralStaff dispatched we published for December of 2014, highlighting much that we did internally to change & restore the Prussian forces. It also highlights the return of many former & longtime members who departed from the Club between fall of 2013 and now. They are the first batch of former members who were invited back and all accepted the call to arms again. Another batch of invitations to come back to the Club & Prussia will go out shortly, now that the site is done. http://www.wargamech.ca/wc/nwc/Army_Web ... /2014.html

Members who were left in the Prussians forces, at the time of November 2014, were very receptive to the return of their former fellow Prussians and every effort has been made to make them happy too with the changes/restorations made. Each of them and the returning members communicated with me directly about unit choices & other decisions made when I resumed command. The Prussians had 4 officers in November of 2014 and now we have 12. We are hoping with the second round of invites back, we'll have even more. It has been a good practice in participation & Esprit de Corps for us.

The plans moving forward are to adjust some of the medals, update medals & promotions that need to be awarded & to go and recruit for the forces & the Club at large. We also are hoping to expand upon certain subpages, such as the Royal Family, some of the Family Research Center & other Prussian history & military related pages and sections of either the Library/Archives or of links we have found out there, making the site again, not only a place for gaming of the Club members, but also of those interested in the time period & history.

It should be noted that Ludwig Schmidt has been most helpful with the translations on the site.

Finally, there will be the ever continuous cosmetic & small adjustments/changes that'll be made to make the site look nicer & compatible in more browsers. In terms of naming conventions, references to the former Armee level status that is scattered about the page will not be edited. It is felt that eventually, the force can be risen to the Armee level again, so we don't wish to have to do double edits for it. So there will be various names used throughout the site, but they all related to Prussia.

The site is located here: http://www.wargamech.ca/wc/nwc/Army_Web ... n/Prussia/

Once again, it is a bright future for the Prussian forces & the Club at large.

We say loudly:

Vorwärts meine Kinder! Vorwärts! Mit Gott für König und Vaterland!

"Pro Patria et Gloria"

Nice work to the three of you who worked on this! While I am pretty sure that Scott did the heavy lifting, it appears to have been a real team effort!

Thanks Cliff!

Jim - yeah their help was most invaluable, especially Ludwig's who caught the small grammar errors in my German. :frenchcool

Walt has some good ideas too on how to increase the Google standings of the pages, which will come in handy.

I do not know Walt, and maybe he knows a lot about Google and search engines. If I may though, before you do anything in an attempt to please Google, shoot me a PM to run it by me. It is what I do for a living. Multi-million dollar companies from all over the world pay me a lot of money to help them rank better in Google. I know a thing or 3 about it.

I even launched my own course training other people on search engine optimization.

I don't have the time to volunteer like you guys do (and I hate building and editing websites with a passion), but I can at least be useful to make sure you guys do not head down any wrong paths.

Mike,
If this involved secret rituals, virgin sacrifices, etc. I would be interesting in assisting too. Cause really, beyond that, I cannot imagine how to manipulate the Google!

But in all seriousness, I am sure you earn your money!

Mike,

Thanks, that'd be most helpful actually. I read that about you in the past, that you did that for a living, but forgot about it until now. If anything it can be applied to help the other two Clubs too. But yeah, I'll drop you an email when we get to that point.

I've been pretty much doing it the layman's way all these years, through different ways you setup your website et al.

But yeah, we'll take help & advice from anyone, we each have something to "volunteer" and offer.... :frenchcool
