Paco and Ken found a problem with their Campaign Eckmuhl campaign game they are playing - losses were being assessed to units in future games that had not fought before. They are into the 3rd scenario and units are showing up with a lot of losses that were not in past battles in the campaign.
I had a feeling that the ORG File might be the problem. The ORG file is used to reroute losses to different orgs in the OB file used for the campaign. It also can be used to nullify past losses.
Here is the current Eckmuhl ORG file:
Eckmuhl
1 1
2 2
1.4.2 1.8.2
-1
It should say this:
Eckmuhl
1.4.2 1.8.2
1 1
2 2
-1
What this is saying is:
For ORG formation 1.4.2 (Morand's division of III Corps) take all losses and assess them to 1.8.2 (which is Morand serving under Lannes)
the other lines have to do with normal loss carryover.
So army "1" (the French) will have all losses assessed to army "1" (same army) in all future battles (meaning that Morand in III Corps will also have losses from his own past battles)
Army "2" (the Austrians) will also have all losses carried over.
By putting the unique mapping (1.4.2 to 1.8.2) later as is the case in the file it was messing up the loss carryover also for the Austrians. I do not know why but it did. Ken was seeing units with losses that had never fought in the campaign before.
I will be testing this file out before I release it for the next update.
There is a work around for this in the meantime but it means allowing NO losses to carry over. Here is the work around:
1. Play your first battle. After it ends let it load to the next battle.
2. Open up the .cpf file and note near the top the number of the branch. It will look like this (branch number in bold text):
1809Campaign.cpd
1 3
3p1
1 0
3. Open up the campaign editor ... find the "branch" that is for 3p1 (in this case "Napoleon in Command 20 April 1809") and then close the editor.
4. Open up the campaign game. Start up a NEW campaign. Use a different filename for this campaign than the one you were using (add in Battle2 if you like).
5. In the dialog box where you pick your side, PBEM, etc, look down to the section that has the branch names. Find the branch that applies per the scenario editor step.
6. Start up the campaign game - no losses will have been assessed to units so just know this ....
An awful way to play the campaign but each time you go to a new battle you can play them as "stand alone" battles by simply saving the file as a .btl - and pick the encryption option of course in your options.
Sorry for the inconvenience. I am hoping that this will be corrected after I do the testing. I will reply to this post once the testing has been concluded.
