Well, Guillaume, its been since 1996-98 that those games came out so you will find a major difference in how they play.
The big things about the older series are:
1. Defense phase allowed you to square up (if you passed your roll) or do a counter charge (again if you passed the roll)
2. Graphics were lovely. The map in particular. There is a 3D max zoom level too which I miss in the newer series.
Cons were:
1. More files to send ... six per turn
2. Skirmishers could gang up on formed units too easily and block their movement.
3. Obviously there are enhancements in the JTS games that have brought the series up a notch or two.
I miss the counter charge and squaring abilities.
I now am going to look at doing something to help protect my guns in the JTS series ... something that we have had in the series by update but I have not been using it much. Going to share this with the Allied officer ...
