Napoleonic Wargame Club (NWC)

Having been away, I only got around to downloading the v. 4.04 updates today and ran into a problem installing the updates. Briefly, excution of the updates would hang at the initial window which asks whether you want to install a program that did not come from the Windows store. Rebooting did not solve the problem.

It finally dawned on me that the recent Windows security update might be the problem. After turning off the “Reputation-based Protections” I was finally able to install all of the updates.

Microsoft Windows is becoming counterproductive. Thinking I might build a Linux box the next time I buy a PC. I would use this old Dell for Windows but the newer PC for doing real work!



Glad you got through all of that, Paco. Remembering the issues you had trying to run/install Campaign 1814.

For Club Games: I prefer the Single Phase mode of play. I prefer to play with the following options OFF:

MDF, VP4LC, NRO, MTD, CMR, PR, MIM, NDM, OMR (ver 4.07)

So, you are saying WDS has a bad reputation? Did they do something at a party that made many gasp?

No, whatever gave you that idea? Its Microsoft that has the issues ....

WDS/JTS products are known to run on Linux. I think that there are some sound issues but otherwise the games have been proven to work on that OS.
