I have found that several of my WDS games are not showing up in the Windows - Uninstall list. Could members check to see if all of their WDS titles are showing up and if NOT report it here and also send Rich Hamilton a note about it. To date he says that I am the only one that this has happened to. I somehow find it doubtful that its just me and my PC which happens to be a really good system.
So if you would bring up your Installed Software list under Control Panels -> Programs and Features and do a check I would appreciate it and if there is anyone else having this problem then Rich H. needs to check with his program staff about it.
The titles that are not showing up for me are:
PzC series:
Bulge '44
Japan '45
Japan '46
Kiev '43
Napoleonic Battles series:
NONE of the titles are showing up in the list
This is not a knock on WDS. And it may very well be that I am the ONLY WDS customer that this happened to.
I install my software to E drive - not C .. but have been doing this for many years. Never had any problem with the Install list.
The problem is this: I cannot uninstall any of the products that are not listed. If I go to install the game again it won't let me. Not that I am doing that - it was during a test run that I found that out.
So should I ever have to reinstall one of those games I cannot via the typical uninstall process. I would have to gut the registry of the entry. A tricky prospect to say the least.
If you are seeing the games come up just fine - no need for a response. I figure that the vast majority of you are having ZERO problems in this regard.
NOTE: I make copies of my install folders for all of the Nap Battles series and at least one of the ACW games - Antietam. That ACW title is showing up on the list so it has nothing to do with the second game folder I use for all updates. This preserves my original 4.00 install and is not the issue here. The Updates do not update the Registry as far as I know. The version number as seen in the "Uninstall or Change a Program" dialog in Control Panel is for the version that was part of the installer, not the update. For instance: I have updated the COPY of the Antietam game to the latest version but the dialog shows it still as 4.00 which is fine.
Any help is appreciated. This is not a "show-stopper" so far but could be an issue if for whatever reason my original install of one of the above-mentioned games needs to be reinstalled.
List (attached) shows all of my WDS programs showing up in the install list.
