Some of you guys that know your German, French, etc can tell me ... when reading manuscripts or any original source accounts ... does the writer give times in his account often?

Alot of what I read in English works is good but alot of the times its a narrative account and there are few times when the hour or even some point of reference of the DAY is told so that you know when the NEXT assault takes place.

Is a time something that is lacking in the account/correspondance of the period writers too?

In some cases even the term "mid morning" would do nicely instead of just a rolling account of attacks.
