As recommended by Rich White in my first thread on this subject, here are some questions that all members of the NWC are urged to respond to:

1./ Do you play the HPS games in multiphase mode, and if so do you play all/most/many of your games in this way or just the occasional game.

2./ Do you still only/mainly/sometimes play the BG games because you don't like HPS single phase mode and find that the HPS multiphase mode in its current form is inferior to the BG engine.

3./Would you play the HPS games in multiphase mode if the missing BG elements - square forming and cavalry counter-charging in the defensive phase and the subsequent charge phase - were restored?

4./ Would you be more likely to buy/buy more HPS games if the missing BG elements were restored to the HPS engine? or

5./ Would you be more likely to buy/buy more HPS games if the only Automatic Defensive fire were restored to the HPS engine for the Napoleonic games, as it is already in all of the other HPS engines?

Okay, since I raised the subject to begin with I will happily answer the questions.

1./ Do you play the HPS games in multiphase mode, and if so do you play all/most/many of your games in this way or just the occasional game?

I will ONLY play in this mode.

2./ Do you still only/mainly/sometimes play the BG games because you don't like HPS single phase mode and find that the HPS multiphase mode in its current form is inferior to the BG engine?

I will play either HPS or BG games in the multiphase mode that each has. Except for the additional elements of the BG games, they both require 6 e-mails to complete a full turn.

3./Would you play the HPS games in multiphase mode if the missing BG elements - square forming and cavalry counter-charging in the defensive phase and the subsequent charge phase - were restored?

YES!!

4./ Would you be more likely to buy/buy more HPS games if the missing BG elements were restored to the HPS engine? or

IN THE NAPOLEONIC SERIES - YES!!

5./ Would you be more likely to buy/buy more HPS games if the only Automatic Defensive fire were restored to the HPS engine for the Napoleonic games, as it is already in all of the other HPS engines?

YES, THAT TOO WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE TO ME!!

1./ No, only in single phase mode

2./ Sometimes play the BG games, which is superior to HPS multiphase mode for reasons already stated. NB: I'm confident that changes currently being tested for single phase mode will improve that method of playing, but this wouldn't necessarily make a restored multiphase mode redundant as a viable alternative way of playing.

3./ Yes, but would no doubt also continue playing some games in single phase mode too. I'm not sure what percentage would be in multiphase mode - maybe 40% of games, maybe as high as 60%?

4./ N/A

5./ No

1. No, N/A
2. No.
3. Yes.
4. N/A to me of course but if I was a customer I must be honest and say yes. The more options to a game the better.
5. Yes. At least this way you have the ability to play with multi or single phase and still do only 1 file per player/turn.

LOL - this is like one of my polls! [:D]

1) Never. Play with embedded melee rule though. Why play HPS multiphase?
2) I like both games, slowly switching to HPS only due to the games speed (On turn 80 in a multiplayer started n January - no chance of doing that in BG), so no
3) No. Again speed is the issue.
4) That would not effect my decision, so No
5) I play no HPS games other than Napoleonics, so can't answer

Gentlemen,

Come now surely we can get a few more of you to reply. This has been read over 90 times, but only has ten responses. Are there no others who wish to weigh in with there opinions?[?][8)]
