Gentlemen:

Fill your glasses and toast two grand Marechals of the French Armee, Paco and Tomasz. These talented Marechals have defeated Lt. Gen. Mark Nelms and myself in both halves of a mirror match as part of the Guards Challenge. We fought a version of the battle of Eckmuhl and could not stand before the armies of these generals. [:(]

So raise your mugs and drink to their health!

I will have to win their batons on some other field on some other day. [;)] Something I have never done with either of them.

FM Sir 'Muddy' Jones, KG
2nd Life Guards, Household Cavalry

Yes, I have to tip my hat to these Gentlemen also. Though I think Sir Muddy would have done better by himself then with his partner. Perhaps I should have spent more time looking at the map then for my lost liquor shipment.

Maréchals vs, Admirals ... the Allies seem to do better at SEA!

If we could only lure the French army to try and cross the Channel!

Mssrs.,

It was a VERY hard fought encounter and Sir Muddy and Lt. General Nelms do themselves a diservice to imply that we simply rolled over them. For instance, in the 2nd match, when Tomasz & I commanded the Austrian forces, they methodically dismembered en detaille the 3rd & 4th Army Korps under my command despite all my best efforts to the contrary.[B)] But for a few key defensive stands, which inflicted grievious damage on their cavalry, the battle could have had a very different outcome. The butcher's bill should give you an indication just how tough this battle was: Inf- 65,691F/64,279A; Cav - 18,188 F/ 8,328 A; Arty - 70 F/ 169 A; Leaders - 54 F/ 37 A.

So please, charge your glasses in honor of two gallant members of His Britanic Majesty's forces.

Regards,

Paco

Maréchal M. Francisco Palomo
Prince d'Essling, Grande Duc d'Abrantes et
Comte de Marseille
Commandant - Division de Cavalerie de la Vieille Garde
